Essential Grid Cobbles Layout for 1 Column

Hi there

I work with Essential Grid Cobbles Layout, which is great for multiple columns display. On Mobile view with only 1 column, the wide images will be croped on left and right side. If I set the “Media Fit” to “Contain” the full with of the image is displayed but then I have empty space on top an bottom.

Is it possible in Cobbles layout to show the media with 100% width and 100% height at 1-column Mobile display?

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi Felix,

Working with background image is pretty trick specially if the aspect ration of the container where the background gets added is different from the image itself.

Is there a chance that you can send us the link to the page in question so that we can check it and provide some suggestions specific to your setup.

Thank you.

Hi Jade

Thank you very much for your reply. The link to the page ist: https://showmyproject.ch/projekte/

The problem is as examples the first picture “La Galleria Online Shop”. With multiple columns it looks great but if you decrease the browser window to one column, the image will be cropped left and right. This looks not good. If I set the “Media Fit” to “Contain” the full with of the image is displayed but then I have empty space on top and bottom.

What can I do to avoid this empty space?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello Felix,

Thanks for updating in!

You can only have “Cover” or “Contain”. Use cover and just make sure that you align it to the center both vertically and horizontally.

Hope this helps.

Hi RueNel

Thank you very much for your advice. I have set my Layout Composition like that except that I have chosen Masonry Grid Layout, because I also have Portrait Mode Images, which would be cropped on top and bottom with “Even” Grid Layout.

But your screenshot was very helpful and brought me to the idea to set the Media Alignment to “left” or “right” with specific images, which looks in most cases better than just center the cropped image.

So for me - problem solved and thanks again for your help!

You’re welcome, Felix. Glad we’re able to help.
