Errors validating cornerstone using Themeco license code, no longer using X Theme

Hi there, I have a site running a new theme, other than X by Themeco, but still have Cornerstone installed as that’s required for the pages that were built using Cornerstone.

After switching themes, I get a persistent notification on the WP admin side that Cornerstone is not validated. Looks like this:

“THEMOCO: This Cornerstone license is not validated . [Fix]”

When I click the “Fix” link, I am taken to the page where you can “Input Code and Hit Enter”.

I have 2 separate single pro licenses from Themeco (but linked to this same site I am working on, and both available for us), but entering either code yields this error:

" We’ve checked the code, but it doesn’t appear to be an Cornerstone purchase code or Themeco license. Please double check the code and try again."

Please let me know what’s going on with these license codes - thanks!

Hello @kbisk,

Thanks for writing in!

" We’ve checked the code, but it doesn’t appear to be an Cornerstone purchase code or Themeco license. Please double check the code and try again."

This error message will only appear if you are using the X or Pro theme license code to validate the Cornerstone plugin. If you are running a different WordPress theme, you will be using the Cornerstone plugin as a stand alone plugin. The Cornerstone plugin will then ask you to validate it. You can only successfully validate the Cornerstone plugin if you have a separate Cornerstone plugin license code. You CANNOT any existing X or Pro theme license because the X or Pro theme license codes can only be used to validate the X or Pro themes.

If you want to purchase a separate Cornerstone plugin license, you can get it here:

Best Regards.

Thanks for the info. I understand what you’re saying, but it’s a little frustrating to hear that with two X theme licenses that are not being used (which include Cornerstone), are not enough for me to be able to use Cornerstone. Spending another $50 on something I’ve purchased twice doesn’t make sense to me. So if nothing can be done to help me out in that regard, what will happen to my Cornerstone plugin if I do not purchase a separate Cornerstone license? Will it continue to run but without updates and support?

Hey @kbisk,

The Cornerstone plugin will not work if it’s coming from X because the standalone Cornerstone plugin is different from the Cornerstone coming from X. The Cornerstone plugin you had right now might encounter some issues because WordPress updates the core files regularly. You have two choices, it’s either using the X theme / Cornerstone plugin or purchasing a standalone Cornerstone plugin license.

Hope that helps.

Hey @kbisk,

We’re sorry for the lack of information. What my colleague meant is Cornerstone MIGHT not work in the future possibly due to WP conflicts because it won’t receive updates.

Note that your license is for X. Cornerstone is bundled in X for free and the license allows the use of Cornerstone only if you use X. If you use other themes you will need a separate Standalone Cornerstone license.

The reason for that is that the support and updates you’ve received are or were connected to your X license. Our validation system will only recognize your site based on your license.

Also, support would be a bit different if you’ll be using Standalone Cornerstone as some features linked to X are not available and we need to report conflicts with 3rd party themes.

Thank you for understanding.
