Error while saving homepage in Cornerstone

Hi there!

See the screenshot to explain what happen when I (try) to save the homepage on www.dcw.nl. This happens only with the frontpage, other pages are fine.

I have never had this before with any of my (X) sites on my server. I have tried disabling plugins, changed memory limits and updated everything I could, no succes. Could you please lookup this matter?

I will add a secure note with login credentials.

Thanks!

Hey Tim,

I see you’ve added some third party JS in your child theme that is not available anymore. Please remove customizations then clear all caches including browser cache then test again.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for your quick reply. I have deleted the JS and did what you say. Still got the same error.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hey Tim,

There’s something in your home page content triggering the same error I posted above when saving.

I created a test page here and it saves successfully.

Please save your page as a template then import it in a test page then remove sections one by to see what is causing the issue.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,

Were getting closer. When I save this page as a template and import it to a test page, it just works fine. So its not something in the content causing this. However, when I copy the page to a second language with WPML, it won’t save anymore. Not even when I delete all the sections.

The other pages that I have copied exactly the same way are saving just fine.

So What can it be?

Thanks!

Hi there,

May I know which language has this issue? Or you mean that it only works to the language the page is initially created? I tried your content and works well on my end so yes, it’s not because of the content.

For the meantime, in your WPML, could you try setting your URL format to Verschillende talen in bestandsmappen? Then go to Admin > Settings > Permalinks and resave it again to flush it.

And how you’re duplicating your content, would you mind providing a video recording of the complete step on how to reproduce this issue?

Thanks!

Hi Rad,

Actually both languages have the problem. The original one and the second language. I have tried the setting in WPML, no luck also.

Please have a look at the video and see how I translate pages (did it always like this and works fine). In this website it works also, except not for the front page as we already noticed.

Hi there,

I did try many tests, by duplicating the post and adding the template for the homepage and using the WPML and changing the settings of the WPML.

Unfortunately, I could not find why this is happening on your page. There should be a problem of some kind in the content of the homepage itself and not the fact that it is the homepage, cause I changed the front page for a moment to another page and tested the whole process and it again fails.

Maybe it is related to the fact that the homepage is pretty large one and it fails to allocate enough memory, but then you said you even deleted all the sections and it does not save again.

I did another test and had an interesting result. I added a template to your homepage and downloaded it to my local machine. I added it to my local installation and it worked ok and I could translate it to Armenian with no issue in the Cornerstone.

So this is indeed related to your installation and server environment but unfortunately, I can not find the cause. The last thing that I can do is to give you my local installation properties and hope you can make your environment like mine and see if it works for you:

My WPML version: 3.8.3

My server settings:

Thank you.

Hi Christopher,

I don’t understand how this can be a installation and server environment problem. All the pages work except for this one. That means server has no issues?

I did a redirection op 2 seperate homepages so I have a workaround in the meantime.

At least thanks for the help!

You’re welcome. The last thing that you can do is clear all caches and completely remove caching in your site for troubleshooting purposes. Also reset your htaccess again. You can do that by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks (again) and just click the Save Changes button.

Thanks
