Error Message When Trying to Edit a page in Cornerstone 'The preview could not load due to the iframe response being incomplete...'

Hi, I’ve updated X Theme and all the plugins and I’m getting an error message on every page I try to edit in Cornerstone!

The preview could not load due to the iframe response being incomplete. This is most often related to a plugin conflict, or customisations introducing a PHP error.

I’ve created a staging site and deactivated all of the plugins (apart from Cornerstone) and I’m still getting the error message. I’ve also tried removing the CSS and that didn’t work either.

There’s something else that’s odd, the staging site keeps saying that ‘Your licence of X is not validated’ and that’s even after I’ve gone to the ‘Manage Licenses’ and added the staging site to the main sites licence. I’ve copied and pasted the license number to the staging site to validate it and it says congratulations etc but then loads the ‘You’re almost finished!’ screen again, so I have no idea what’s going on with any of it!

I hope you can help! I’ll put the staging site login info in a secure note.

Thanks!

Hi @core365,

Thanks for reaching out!

The reason why the preview could not load due to the iframe response because of the compatibility issue of X and cornerstone plugin. Currently, you have an old X theme version 7.2.3 and you have the latest version of Cornerstone which is 5.1.5 and they are not compatible with each other. First, I suggest that you deactivate and uninstall your cornerstone plugin to avoid any conflict when upgrading your X theme. Second, upgrade your X theme to the latest version and the last thing you should do is install the cornerstone plugin again.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Hi @marc_a,

I’m a bit confused as to why that’s happened, as in the WordPress dashboard, there weren’t any updates available for the latest version of X theme in WordPress at the time, I’ve just had to click the ‘Check Now’ on the Automatic Updates section and about 5mins after the update was available! That hasn’t happened before, so I’ll have to remember that one in case it happens again.

It’s all sorted now - I didn’t have to do anything with cornerstone either, it was back to working after just updating X theme.

Thanks for your time and help!

Hi @core365,

I just want to add up something, if there’s an available updates for Cornerstone plugin, there’s also an update for the X theme because they are updated both sync to each other.

On the other hand, we’re glad that the issue was already solved by updating your X theme and cornerstone plugin to the latest version. If you have any other concerns regarding our theme features, feel free to reach us.

Thank you.
