Empty Menu not shown in Header / Footer Builder

Hi there,

I have an empty menu (means with no items). If I want to add this to an inline navigation in the header builder, the menu is not shown in the list of available menus.
Workaround: If I add an item to the menu, I can add the menu to the inline navigation. If I remove the item afterwards, the menu stays there. So I can achive what I want.

But I think hiding a menu if it’s empty is more a bug than a feature.

Why I want an empty menu? I want a menu with only a WPML language selector. So I need a menu to add the selector to. This menu may only contain the flags for the languages and nothing else - so it has to be empty.

If this is a bug - please fix it.

Best regards

Uli

Hi Uli,

Thanks for your suggestion on this. But most of the users expect the menu to be shown in the frontend after assigning it to the Navigation Inline or in the same type of elements, and if it shows the blank menu it creates more confusion. So it can’t be consider this as a bug right now, still, we will see it and will try if anything can be done on this.

Thanks

Well, the Menu has to be shown in the frontend, of course. But as long as I decide wich menu will be shown, I should be able to chose myself, wich menu. If there is an empty menu, it can only be there, because i created an emptey menu. And if I create an empty menu, I know it’ s empty and don’t expect anything else be shown as an empty menu. So I don’t think there will be confusion - at least not more confusion, as if a menu i just created is not available in the nvigation inline settings. It took me quite a long time to find out why …

If you still think hiding empty menus in the options is a good feature, it’s Ok for me as I have a workaround.

Best regards

Uli

Hi Uli,

Not showing the Empty menus is a standard option, but as I said before we will consider your thought and check the possibility for this.

Thanks
