This is a totally new thing that has just happened today. Before, my business would show up with its reviews and everything, and the size of the map was wide enough to fill half of the footer’s width. Now, all of a sudden, the map has shrunk and doesn’t show my business’s reviews or any information. I’m also now unable to change the size of the map, no matter what I set the width and height to. Nothing affects the map. It is too small and not helpful. I also noticed that I used to have a box below the text editing portion of the widget in my footer, and this would allow me to choose to cache or NOT cache my footer. Yesterday, I changed this by either changing it from checked to not checked or from not checked to checked. Did that break my map? However, I no longer see the check box, so I’m unable to check or not check this checkbox now to fix this problem if this is what caused the problem. Please help. Thank you.
I found that if I enter the google maps embed code into an “html” widget rather than a “text” widget then the embed works. However, it worked just fine in the “text” widget before. As a temporary workaround, I’ve just deleted the terrible looking shrunken down version that won’t increase in size or change no matter what I do to it, and I’ve replaced it with an additional widget that is a “html” widget. HOWEVER, there is a LARGE buffer between the text and the html widget that I also don’t like. I’d like to have the html widget between the text widget and a second text widget if I have to now have the embed in a html widget instead of a text widget. I’d like the map to be embedded between text above and text below, and now I’ve just got it below all the text since I can’t have a huge amount of empty buffer space either. I would appreciate either 1) a way to remove the very large buffer area between the widgets, or 2) a way to make it where I can again enter the embed into text and it would work the way it was working up until yesterday, please. Either solution works for me. Thank you again.
Hello @StraitClinic,
Please be aware that the text widget only accepts plain text. A few inline tags like <strong>
, span
or <em>
is accepted. Adding other html tags will just create and issue because normally other html tags were not allowed in the text widget area. This is why, if you embed a code, it is advisable to insert it in an html widget. The buffer time of the embed code is also normal since the embed code will have to load the map from it’s embed source.
By the way, can you please provide us the URL of the page were we can inspect your map? You might be able to use the Map element in Cornerstone for that.
Best Regards.
