Email Form - sign up error

Hi Guys,

I am using email form to display my mailchimp List. My list contains 2 Group drop-downs that are not compulsory to submit.

However, when I try to submit the form without making a selection i get the following error “MailChimp Error: The resource submitted could not be validated. For field-specific details, see the ‘errors’ array.”

It is worth noting that I don’t get this error when using the Mailchimp for WP plugin.

My website is : www.gigsuper.com.au

Hi There,

I can see the issue. This is most likely due to unmatched merge tags and your form fields. Check if your form fields match Mailchimp fields. Let us know how this goes.

Hi Lely,

Thank you for taking a look.

Adding groups to the form is via dropdown selection (pulled through via the api). There is no way to create a mismatch.

When using the form online mailchimp successfully captures the selections. The issue refers to what happens when the user chooses not to make a selection.

in the meantime I have removed the groups from the online form until we can get it resolved.

Hi There,

In that case, we need to check how you have set it up. Please provide credentials on a secure note. If you could also provide Mailchimp credentials that would be better. Thank you.

Hi Lely,

I have provided the secure note with credentials, including mailchimp.

Thank you for your help.

Hey @SmartOrder,

I just enabled the group and tested signing up to your list and it was successful.

Please clear your browser cache then check again. Also test in incognito and other browsers.

Hi Christian,

Can you test signing up without selecting any of the groups (ie your age and your gig?). That was the issue for me…not specifying these non-mandatory fields resulted in a submission error using the email form plugin.

Hi there,

Thank you for your report. We will add this to the issue tracker to follow up. Please kindly consider that the error that you see is what Mailchimp itself throws:

But, as you say the official plugin of the Mailchimp handles that error somehow we will investigate the details.

But at the moment I suggest that you add a default value to both groups:

and in the settings of the Email Form select the default option: (You will select the default value instead of Marketer)

That will make the group items always selected and avoid the error.

Thank you.

Hello,

Ok, that is a decent work around. However, I have 2 issues:

In mailchimp I have added a default value to the group lists called ‘—select—’. However, I can’t seem to get this pushed through into the plugin for ‘what is your gig?’. You can see the option has been added and set as default for ‘Your age?’. I have tried refreshing, purging caches etc…no luck.

I can’t seem to get the groups to publish online. Is there a setting that you guys have tinkered with ?

Thank you for your help here guys. Until there is a fix to the email form plugin I will revert to the mailchimp WP plugin.

Cheers.

Hey @SmartOrder,

I’m sorry for the confusion earlier. @christopher.amirian has submitted a report regarding this. You can see if it has been fixed in our Changelog.

Thanks.
