Double tap issue on mobile menu

Problem: When using Theme X Pro, building a custom header using Navigation modal or Navigation Inline I need to double tap on menu links when using my mobile (iPhone 7+, iOS 13.3.1, Safari).

(This cannot be replicated using a computer and narrowing the window width.)

My customer can replicate this problem on her iPhone and I’ve actually had this problem on and off the last year with different sites, but haven’t understood why.

I’m using WP 5.4 (yes I know it’s not supported yet, but the problem has occurred in the past with previous WP versions).

Now I’ve set up a test page on my development-site on which the problem can be replicated, see attached Secure note.

What I’ve noticed is this: if my menu contains no more than 9 links (plus sub menus) then all works fine. If I add the 10th link or more then I need to double tap.

This is regardless of if I’m using submenus or not, regular page links or custom links …

Best,
Petter

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the report. Unfortunately, I could not recreate the issue as I have iOs version 13.3 and my iPhone is XR.

So it seems that it should be something related to 13.3.1 and the version difference is the problem cause, but I will ask my colleagues to check if they have a new version and meanwhile I am going to try to update my iOS version (It takes ages!)

Thank you.

Thanks, I’m looking forward to your reply.

My customer is using iPhone 8+ with iOS 13.3.1 installed and had the same problem AND I’ve now tested with Chrome on iPhone and need to double tap regardless of what page I’m looking at :frowning:

Hi @birdycom,

That is strange. I updated my iPhone to the latest iOS version and now it is version 13.4.1. I still can not recreate the issue. Here is what I experienced, I recorder my phone screen so that you can also see:

  • Check the Secure note, please.

It is nearly impossible for me to troubleshoot a problem that I can not recreate. I need to wait for my other colleagues to check and see if they can recreate this.

At this point, I suggest that you also update your phone to the latest Safari version and do the testing.

Thanks a lot!

I upgraded to 13.4.1 and the problem seems gone, both in Chrome and Safari!

(Strange, I recall having the same problem about a year ago … but nevertheless: problem solved for now.)

Thanks for your help!

Glad that the problem is gone.
