Document Library Pro Not Loading on French Version of the Site

Hi there,

We’ve recently noticed that our implementation of Document Library Pro on https://cailba.com does not appear to be working on the French side of our website. When attempting to open a folder, it just gets stuck in an endless load.

This page is accessible when logged in via our membership platform, and works fine on the English side:

Language switching is handled by PolyLang, so we’re thinking there may potentially be a conflict that didn’t previously exist there.

We connected with Document Library Pro’s support (Barn2), who pointed to this as a theme issue. Here is their reply:

I tested this on your staging site and confirmed that the issue is coming from the Pro theme. It looks like the theme is re-querying the taxonomy terms and running them through some sort of localization function. Since this behavior comes from the theme itself, it is outside the scope of what we can support. The plugin is working correctly, but the theme is changing the output in a way we cannot control. I recommend contacting the Themeco support team, as they should be able to explain why this is happening or help you turn it off.

I expect you’ll need a WordPress login, potentially on our main and staging site, to diagnose the issue (and to see the issue in action), but I first wanted to create this ticket to see if this was a known issue or if there are any other details I can provide before sending that access. In the meantime, I’ve provided a screenshot of the issue:

Hello @jessebrito,

Thanks for writing to us.

I would suggest you please have a look at this thread, where a similar issue has been addressed. If it doesn’t work for you, we need to check your settings. I would request please share the admin login details meanwhile, I would suggest you troubleshoot a few of the common issues before we investigate your settings. Please share your details in a secure note. Please provide the following details

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin-level username and password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts

Thanks

Hi @prakash_s We’ll take a look at that thread, however I’ve just shared a secure note with login details to our production site, if you’re able to take a look in the meantime. Please let me know if you have any trouble logging in. Thanks!

Hi @jessebrito,

I have checked your website, and a few questions arise in my mind.

  1. Is the Document Library Pro compatible with Polylang ?

  2. If yes, does the issue come only with Pro?

Can you please create a staging site and activate any of the default themes like TwentyTwenty and check if the translation works correctly for you?. If that does not work, I would suggest you check with both plugin authors about this. Please remember that we don’t have any control over the 3rd Party plugin code, you need to reach out to the plugin author.

If that only occurs with Pro, please let us know the credentials for your staging site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL

– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hi @tristup,

Yes, I’ve confirmed with Barn2 that Document Library Pro is compatible with Polylang. And yes, we did a full theme and plugin compatibility check on staging.

The only thing that worked was reverting the theme to the default WordPress 2025 theme, further indicating that this is a theme issue.

I’ve added a link to our staging environment to the secure note - the login credentials are the same. Please note that many plugins are currently disabled there as we and Barn2 were troubleshooting.

Hi @tristup - just wanted to follow up on this. Thanks.

Hey @jessebrito,

Your page https://cailba.com/fr/cailba-mga-boite-a-outils/ is using or was build with Cornerstone. Can you try out a page that is not built using Cornerstone. Meaning, you need to add your shortcodes in the WordPress Editor not Cornerstone builder. The result will provide more context on the issue.

Hi @christian -

I set this up on a non-Cornerstone page on our staging site, and it appears to be working:

https://staging2.cailba.com/cailba-french-toolbox-test/

Does this mean that there is some type of compatibility issue with Cornerstone? We do like managing the content in Cornerstone, so I’m wondering if there is a way to still make it work?

Thanks.

Hi @christian - just wanted to check in on this now that we know the issue may be Cornerstone-related, as we’re hoping to get this page functional again as soon as possible.

Please note that it appears to work on the English page, in case that is helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Hey @jessebrito,

You mentioned “get this page functional again”. Does that mean it worked in the past? If so, can you remember the version?

Thanks.

@christian - correct. This reported by our client only recently, and may likely have lined up with us conducting monthly maintenance, which includes updating WP, X Theme, and Cornerstone versions.

I don’t remember the version, but I imagine it was working with one version prior to what we’re running now.

Also, I noticed our Caching plugin was disabled. Just a heads up that I had to re-enable this to clear the cache for our client. Thanks.

Hey @jessebrito,

Thank you for the information. I’ll post this case in our issue tracker so our development team will take a look when they get to this issue. Please keep your staging site up and it would be best that you revert your live site to a working backup.

Hey @jessebrito,

In addition, can you try out creating a Single Layout then add your shortcodes in the Layout Builder then assign the layout to your page?

Hi @christian - we recreated the page as you suggested, and it is now working on our end. We’ve gone ahead and have made this the live page, so this is now resolved from our side. Many thanks!

You are most welcome, Jesse.
