I have created a CPT (news-impact) thhat has an ACF checkbox (display_on_front_page) that I want to display in a looper if the checkbox value is “yes”.
I tried this as a query string in the looper provider, but I had no luck getting the posts to appear.
post_type=news-impact&post_status=publish&posts_per_page=3&orderby=date&order=DESC&meta_key=display_on_front_page&meta_value=yes
Am I taking the wrong approach?

Your Looper Provider was currently configured as Dynamic Content. I have added an example section called Themeco Section on your page, which is in hidden mode.
Feel free to unhide it to review the setup—I configured the Looper Provider with Query Builder, specifying the appropriate post type and meta query.
