.dev development domain no longer viable

Turns out the TLD .dev now belongs to Google and they’re enforcing HTTPS (in Chrome) for this domain, regardless of whether it’s served locally or not, which causes big problems for me, since I’ve been using that as my development domain for years.
My workaround since Chrome 63 is to use a variation of .d3v - but this TLD is not accepted by your licence manager. Does the licence manager require a valid TLD? What about for local development?

Hi there,

You can add whatever you like in the licenses page but it should be a valid domain or an IP address. For example, the localhost/ or 127.0.0.1 will work ok. But I doubt d3v will work as it does not seem to be a valid domain.

Thank you.

Cheers.

For anyone else wanting to use a development TLD, please see this link:
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2606

Make sure you’re using a valid domain so it can be entered in the licence manager.

Thanks for sharing this information.
