Design Cloud Elements Overwriting Template Colors

While working on a website I decided to try out some of the new design cloud elements to see how they are constructed. After installing them from the design cloud some of my already defined template colors changed to the new design cloud colors throughout my website. Just wanted to let you know.

Thanks,
Stacey

Wow… this could be a big problem!

Theme X team, can you let us know what the guidance on this is? How to prevent or fix this if one plans to use any Design Cloud elements?

Hi Stacey,

From the design cloud, only Sites have the ability to change your settings and we have a popup note about. Others like Presets and Content should not alter any of those options. Can you confirm you did not install any SITES from design cloud? If yes, can you give us details which one you installed that gave you issue? Thank you.

I did not install any sites. Here are the cloud elements that I installed:

Blueprint Creative Columns 3 (just installed this one and it changed my template colors again throughout my site)
Overlapping Cells
Geometry Grid
Modern Mosaic
Neon call to action

It overwrites my “Brand Primary” color and changes the name to “Royal Blue” and then gives it the brighter blue color. See below the before and after:

Thanks!

One more update. I also saved a element from a current website (website 1) and then imported the template into an old website (website 2) and it also wrote over my template colors.

Hey Stacey,

I have replicated what you’ve described in my test site. I’ll post this in our issue tracker so this will be queued for investigation by our developers.

I noticed that the colors added manually were not overridden so for now, I’d recommend that you add your own colors instead of the colors added by templates.

Thanks.

Just had this too!
Creative Columns 3 has changed all the colours site wide, just from importing, not even using the template anywhere, the colours have overwritten what I had.

Annoying as I don’t have the original colours saved anywhere…

Thanks for reporting, @RubberDuckers. This is already queued for investigation.

Hey @staceymarler, @amardeepmisha, @RubberDuckers,

Just wanted to update you on this. We’ve found the cause of the problem and fixed it, so this will no longer happen when installing these assets from Design Cloud.

Apologies for any inconvenience and thanks for the bringing it to our attention.

No worries on my end! Thanks for working on this!

You are most welcome!
