Customizing options not working?

None of the customizing options work for Section, Column, Row or Text.

I can edit text but I can’t add a section background or adjust margins.

No idea what is going on. Have tried clearing my browser cache - no dice.

(Never had this problem with Classic Sections, Rows, etc.)

Hi @lhd333,

You need to activate advanced mode for those options to appear.

Please check screenshot below

Thanks

I’ve done this - none of the adjustments work though. Feel free to log into my site and see for yourself.

Hi @lhd333,

You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes!

I found the plugin (Autoptimize). Cornerstone worked fine after that but now, the final page isn’t showing the section background image at all.

Hello @lhd333,

Thanks for updating the thread.

Looks like the background image issue is also causing because of plugin conflict. I deactivated all plugins except Cornerstone and final page was showing up the background images. When I reactivated the plugins again, issue came back. Please do the plugin conflict again to narrow down the plugin that’s causing the problem.

Thanks.

I had the Autoptomize plugin disabled the whole time. So it would appear that Autoptomize affects cornerstone and some other plugin affects the final published page?

It appears to be a plugin called “Async JavaScript”. I was able to make a plugin exception within the Async JavaScript settings for Cornerstone.

For a brief moment, I thought Wordfence might be the culprit too.

For now, we’re good.

Thank you!

Final note regarding the Cornerstone editing problem originally described: Autoptimize has a feature called: “Aggregate CSS-files”. I turned that off and everything was fine both in the cornerstone editor and the published page.

This is however, not ideal because most caching plugins have a CSS aggregation option.

Ideas?

Hello @lhd333,

Most caching and optimizing plugin will minify the JS and CSS files. This is very useful for the performance of the site. This however affects the way Cornerstone is loaded. The best way to prevents something like this to happen is to temporarily disable all caching plugin when you are still working in Cornerstone. We’d recommend that you clear your caching plugin, and disable it during development. This can cause Customizer changes to not take place on the front end. It will eventually show up when the cache regenerates, but it’s not ideal if you’re looking to see your changes immediately. Caching plugins are best to turn on only when you’ve finished building the site.

Hope this helps.
