Customize X page won't open

Hi,
I cannot get to Customize X through Appearance > Customize. The customization page tries to open, but freezes before it does and just displays a black square with a white circle inside, the rest of the page is blank.

I could access this a couple of days ago with the same hosting, the same plugins, and the same settings, so I don’t know what’s happened. Unless there’s been an automatic update to Cornerstone or X itself which has caused the problem.

Do you know of this issue and how to fix it please?

Thanks for writing in! Did you updated the X theme or Cornerstone? Please make sure to update them both.
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 7.0.1
  • Cornerstone 4.0.1

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).

_After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.-

I solved this myself.
Siteground is a very popular hosting solution for WP so I’ll share what I learned so you can help anyone else with the same problem.
Siteground has it’s own caching plugin - SG Optimizer. This is to blame for the problem. To make X’s customization page open, you must deactivate “Load Render-blocking JavaScript Files Asynchronously”. The page freezes with that active, but open when it’s not.
