Custom URL Slug for Portfolio Not Showing in Breadcrumbs

Hi there,

I’m having trouble with breadcrumbs, the same instance mentioned here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/breadcrumbs-not-showing-portfolio-category-pages-full-screen/31338

In that I have changed the Custom URL slug for the the portfolio but it’s blank in the breadcrumbs, can you assist me?

I’m wondering when you edit one of the portfolio items, what did you get in “Portfolio Parent”?

If you have it set to “Default”, make sure there is one page published with “Portfolio Layout” as its template.

So I created an empty page that is called ‘Projects’ and then I was able to set the Portfolio Parent to projects, and this did change the breadcrumb!

But I don’t think this solution would work for me. I have other portfolio pages that I have set up using the Essential Grid plugin that came with the theme. Using the Portfolio Layout overrides my customized Essential Grids. And using the blank projects page method to have a parent, leaves the blank page accessible from the breadcrumb. Is there another way around this? Like to set my customized pages as the parent?

There are two workarounds in my head right now, one of them is to keep the “Portfolio Page Layout” set, and simply use “Redirection” plugin to redirect that page to your Essential Grid page.

The second one is to manipulate the <a href> location in breadcrumbs using jQuery so it links to your essential grid page instead of the default portfolio layout page, to do that, please check this tutorial:
