Hi, is there a way to customize recent posts in a headline or text element by using a shortcode? Or is the only way to get the latest post in a category and then customize it to use the recent posts shortcode and then edit the CSS?
Thanks
Hello @clefler,
Thanks for writing in!
To avoid any conflicts and issues, you will have to use the elements properly. Headline elements is for creating headlines and text elements is good to use for paragraph text contents. If you need to insert a custom html code or a shortcode, you will have to use content area element. Now, if you already a custom recent posts shortcode, please insert it in a content area element instead and not in a headline element.
If you do not have a recent posts shortcode, it is best that you use the Recent Posts element instead.
Hope this helps.
ok i understand, i think i need to ask it a better way.
Is it possible to get a shortcode for post title that is basically stripped of css so that i can style it through an element?
Hello @clefler,
You do not need a shortcode. Please insert a headline or text element and then use the Dynamic Content to get the Post Title.

ok i didn’t realize i could do that. is it possible to create a button on a page that calls up the latest post in a category?
Hi @clefler,
I’m sorry, we don’t have a way right now to get the first post from a category. Regretfully, that wouldn’t be possible without some custom development. It’s possible to extend the dynamic content system in our builders with custom code and add populate your own data. Coding this up would be a bit outside the scope of support we can offer. An alternative that comes to mind would be checking out the Display Posts plugin on WordPress.org
They have many different query options available. We are also working on a new Post element for our builder that will allow you to work with similar query options.
ok i understand and that is what I thought but sounded like something new was available.
I am currently using The Grid to do it but would love to move to a native system…any idea when the element may be ready?
Thanks
Hi @clefler,
I’m sorry, I don’t have an ETA on when that may be available. We are planning on it being part of our next major release cycle, but we’ve only just begun development so it could be a few months out.
