Custom layout for images from media library

I would like to make a custom layout when clicking on an image. I can use the URL of the image, which I can find in the media library, as a link. However I can’t figure out a way to assign a Single Layout to that type of link. I tried using the images permalink instead, but same issue, can’t find an assignement that recognizes this is an image post.
Am I missing something, is there another way to do this? Can you point me in the right direction?
Patrick

Hi Patrick

Thanks for reaching out.
It is not clear what you are trying to achieve here. Can you please explain a bit more to understand your need?

Thanks

Sure. Here is an example of what I am trying to do. I show a post using a Single layout. Among other things, it shows the featured image. Now I want that image to be clickable. When you click on it I would like it to show the image in a specific layout that I control. It would show the enlarged image with a specific header, additional text and so on. Currently I do this calling a page and passing parameters in the URL. But this has it’s limitations and is cumbersome.

So my question is if it can be done by assigning a Single layout to an item of the media library one way or another?

I can assign a Single Layout to a post type (post, portfolio item,…) , a page, etc… but can’t find a way to assign it to an item in the media library. Is there a way?

Hi Patrick,

Unfortunately, the layout can’t be assigned to the Media items right now.

Thanks
