Custom CSS won't copy/paste without line numbers

Hi! I’m trying to make a copy of my site’s custom CSS into a Word doc. I do this with several of my other X Theme sites so I have a backup. This is the first time I’ve had trouble doing a copy and paste. For some reason, the line numbers are all showing with the CSS. Generally, it’s just the CSS, which is what I need. Is it possible I have a corrupt css file?

Thank you for any help!

Hello @jquinn33,

Thanks for writing in!

Are you trying to copy the custom css in Pro > Theme Options > Custom CSS? If you are, please open Notepad or Sublime Text first. Once you copied the css, paste it first in the Notepad, Sublime Text or any text editor. From the text editor software, you copy it again before pasting it to the other custom css section of the new site to avoid having the line numbers in it.

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.

Thank you, RueNel!
Yes! I’m trying to copy the custom CSS in Pro > Theme Options > Custom CSS! I’ve done this so many times over the years and never ran into this so I’m perplexed! I had actually already tried copying and pasting into Notepad too, and it still brought the line numbers with it!

Oddly, I also just noticed that only PART of the CSS will paste. I did Ctrl-A to select all (confirming all was selected) then copied and pasted into Notepad, and it only pasted from line 103 to the end. I checked to see if something was askew in the area of that line and even deleted that section of CSS (even though it looked fine) and no matter what I deleted or moved, I was still only getting what appeared to be a random piece of the full CSS! (Which thankfully isn’t too long yet!)

I also went to two of my other sites and tried copying/pasting the CSS to be sure it wasn’t happening everywhere all of a sudden, and those two worked perfectly.

I’m thinking it might be a corrupt file! I’m open to suggestions!!

Thank you again for your help!! Much appreciated!!

Okay! I’m thinking it may be something to do with Chrome on PC! I just tried saving the CSS on my iMac in Chrome. No problem. Then I tried saving the CSS in Firefox on PC. Again no problem. Went back to Chrome on PC and I get all the line numbers! So for now, I have what I need!! I’m not sure why Chrome/PC won’t save just this one site’s CSS, but works fine on other sites!

I’ll reply if I solve the mystery!

Hi @jquinn33,

It could be one of your Chrome’s add-ons, try it on the Incognito mode of Chrome where there are no caching and add-ons involve.

How to Use Incognito Windows in Chrome

Cheers!

Oh my goodness!! That was IT!! I forgot about an extension I just added a few weeks ago! I removed it and all is good again! Thank you both for your help!! Soooooo happy there is no corruption in my site files!!

Hi @jquinn33,

Glad to hear it’s sorted.

Cheers!
