CTRL-Z to Undo Causes ALL Sides to Adjust to Prior Setting

This happens roughly half the time, not every time, and never when a page is first opened:

If editing a single side (i.e. the unlinked icon is active) for margin/padding in the sidebar and you tap CTRL-Z to undo an edit you just made to this setting, the prior setting is set for ALL sides even though you didn’t have them linked.

For example if you have a margin of 0 0 2 0 and you change the 2 to a 4 and then CTRL-Z to switch it back to 2, all sides change to 2 not just the side you edited. Bug.

Hi @co50,

I couldn’t replicate this issue on my local installion:

Browser: Chrome v73.0.3683.86 (64bit)
OS: MacOS Mojave 10.14.4
X: v6.5.5
CS: v3.5.4

Could you please tell us which OS & browser you’re using?

Thank you.

  • Chrome (version doesn’t matter, this bug has been active for at least 6 months)
  • Windows 7 64-bit
  • Pro 2.5.5 (has occurred on multiple prior versions)

I know you cannot replicate it but I’ll bet you 100 licenses that eventually you or someone on the team will be able to. It’s one of those bugs that isn’t annoying enough to report right away but once it goes 6 months and it’s still there it’s time to speak up.

Hi @co50,

I tried it on Chrome on Windows 10, 8 and 7 and I too unable to reproduce it. Hitting CTRL+Z triggers the undo for every change that has applied regardless of fields or controls. I also checked our issue tracker and the forum and can’t find any related thread about undo shortcut issue.

Have you tried it on another PC? I’ll continue checking and see if I can reproduce it on other machines. And maybe we can find someone who could test and reproduce it. But unfortunately, we can’t rule this isolated case as a bug, not yet but we’ll continue checking.

Thanks!

It’s not my PC, man. There is no software that would cause an undo to change 4 fields instead 1 some of the time. It’s a JavaScript issue with your editor. I’m 100% sure. Keep working at it. You’ll catch it.

Hello @co50,

I am also unable to replicate the problem on my local setup. I also requested my fellow colleagues having Windows Machine to test the Undo shortcut problem and they are also not able to reproduce the issue.

Let me assure you that over here we are not trying to pass on the buck. We have tried our real best to replicate the problem by testing the Undo Shortcut on our machine. However, as we are not able to replicate the problem on our end, it’s fairly difficult for us to offer solution or confirm it as a bug.

There is a possibility of a hosting related problem. If possible, can you setup a staging environment on the same hosting where in the current website is being hosted and share the login details in secure note? As you are facing a issue we would like to see what’s the problem and offer some solution, if it’s a hosting related problem.

Thanks for understanding.

I have to move on from this bug report due to time constraints. I reported the bug. I can confirm with 100% certainty that it is a bug solely with Pro and is completely unrelated to hosting, browser, OS, etc. But it’s not a bug I encounter often enough to invest more time in helping to squash it. If you figure it out, great. If not, the bug still exists but we’ll live with it.

Hi @co50,

We really appreciate you reporting this issue. Anything that doesn’t seem to work as it should we encourage everyone to report it. I will add this to our issue tracker for further investigation.

Have a great day!
