Critical Error on my live Website

Hi there,

I got an automatic email from WordPress that I got a “Critical error on my website”

I have noticed that on WordPress when I try to edit a page I get the critical error message.

Here’s what I got in the mail:

Hello Katarina,

Thanks for writing in!

Which page you are editing and encountered the issue? I have tried editing your pages and I could not replicate it. See the secure note below.

Best Regards.

Hi Ruenel,

Please check the following pages since there appears the issue:

Could it be an issue since I added a redirect plugin, when someone tries to enter the old WC default page it forwards to the new pages I created?

Hi Katarina,

I have checked all the listed pages but didn’t find the issue you described here. I have also followed the way you explain in the video still not able to replicate that issue. Please let us know if that still exists.

Thanks

Hi Tristup,

I have checked the site and the issue is still there.

I can edit pages with Cornerstone

  • Cornerstone > Edit Page

BUT I CAN’T EDIT WORDPRESS PAGES

WordPress > Pages > Edit Page
- On the following links I sent below.

Please watch:

Hi Katarina,

I followed the way you explained in the video in your previous post and the pages were not showing the problem, but now it shows the issue. I investigated further and found that the Shop Notice element is creating the problem in this case. I would suggest please copy your live site to a staging server and add the debug setup in the wp-config.php file to log the errors into the file name debug.log inside the wp-content folder.

// Enable WP_DEBUG mode
define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );

// Enable Debug logging to the /wp-content/debug.log file
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );

// Disable display of errors and warnings
define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );
//SET PHP INI DISPLAY ERROR FALSE
@ini_set( 'display_errors', 0 );

Please find the video that will help you to edit wp-config.php and add the above code: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SDPTafEM8o
Please let us know the errors logged into the debud.log file for further investigation along with the login credentials of your staging site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hi Tristup,

Hopefully, I did all the steps good… I was nervous since this is my first time doing this.

Hi Kate,

I check your website and the issue has something to do with the Shop Notice element. I suspect the reason why when you click the edit page it throws an error is that the page is not a WooCommerce template.

The reason why I say that it has something to do with the Shop Notice element because when I tried to remove the Shop Notice element using the page builder then save and click the edit page, it is now working as it should be.

There are two choices to fix your issue, you can choose any of these two.

1.) The first option, delete the Shop Notice element. This will allow you to edit the default WordPress page.

2.) The second option, instead of creating the content inside the page, I suggest that you create a Layout Builder as (single) then assign it to the specific page then it should be working.

On the other hand, I will report this as a bug so that our developers will be aware of this issue.

Hope that helps.
