Creat a 2nd sidebar widget and leave the MAIN SBar Widget untouched

Hi I would like to creat a 2nd sidebar widget which has content inside that needs changing regularly and are unique for each side. Meaning

I have the MAIN sidebar which contains all my items that are showing on ALL blog posts, and under nice I like to add a 2nd sidebar which contains affiliation links that need changing per each post depending on the country io am writing about.

I have tried just to add a “classic Text flied” in to the side bar in cornerstone (but not in to the main side bar widget) on the actual post page and entered the HTML code in there, but this only gives me the name of the link but not the full widget provided.
so this is not working for me.

Is it possible to add a widget in to the sidebar that I can change accordingly and leave the MAIN side BAR widget untouched ?

Thank you
C

Hi there,

It seems that you are using Cornerstone to build the pages on your site so what you can do is to create a two column section on Cornerstone where the left will contain the main content and the right area will contain the sidebar widget.

Next is go to WP Admin > Sidebars then add a new Sidebar.

Once the sidebar is added, go to WP Admin > Widgets then in the widget area boxes, you should see the sidebar that you have just created.

Place the affiliation links widgets to the sidebar that you have just created.

Once you’re done with that, go back to your Cornerstone page and add a two new Widget Area element to the right column and set the first widget area to as the Main Sidebar then the second to the new sidebar you created.

Also note that if you do this approach, set the page template to a fullwidth template.

Hope this helps you get started.

Thank you this is what I needed!!! C

You are most welcome!
