Crafty or no?

Is this an abandoned project? Or should I keep trying?

I’ve been pulling my hair out with so many new and existing installs and I can see that there are many other threads over the last couple of years about people getting lost just setting up a Crafty demo site.

Should I expect to actually have a site that matches the demo at the end of this? With dummy products, pages, checkout pages etc. That’s what I’m aiming for but all I get when I install is a couple of pages (home, about and contact), two disconnected components (footer and newsletter block) and the images. There’s no products, no updates to woocommerce archive or single product layouts to match the demo etc.

Any advice would be welcome at this stage.
Mike

Hi @prakash_s, thanks for your reply. Since there’s no documentation for Crafty, where would I find the list of

all the required plugins and added products

Remember, this is a fresh install, so there’s only the pages that comes with vanilla WordPress and WooCommerce.

If there are steps that we should be following, that would be great!

Hello Mike,

I would suggest you please install all the plugins and set up the WooCommerce pages. I would suggest you please set the Permalink to Post name. You need to go to the WordPress dashboard —>Settings —>Permalink.

You need to go to the cornerstone—>click on the Plus icon —>Themeco —>search for “Crafty”

Hope it helps
Thanks

It doesn’t help, sorry. I know you are trying to guide me and I do appreciate that. But these are very basic steps that I have tried.

When you say “install all the plugins”, which plugins specifically are you referring to?

I’ve tried with WooCommerce installed and activated first, then I tried with it installed last. I’ve tried with Cornerstone (Pro) installed and ACF installed and activated first and then WooCommerce. I’ve tried lost of ways.

I see the footer component (which isn’t attached to any page - I can create a footer out of it, but this defeats the purpose of the demo. What I don’t see are products being installed.

To make my question more clear: What should I expect to be set up when I successfully install the Crafty site via Cornerstone>Themeoc>Design Cloud? What should the result look like?

That way, I’ll know if what I am achieving is actually the expected result.

Here’s a screenshot of what’s added to a fresh install (minus the WooCommerce pages for context) Is this right?

Hello Mike,

As per your given screenshot, it seems that the demo data has been imported. You need to install the WooCommerce plugin and set up its pages, You need to install the Email Forms plugin as well for the newsletter section, and create a form for the subscription.

If it doesn’t work for you, I would suggest you please use the WP-rest plugin and reset the database, and then reimport the demo. Before importing the demo data, I would suggest you please install the WooCommerce plugin and set up its pages, and install the Email Forms plugin. If it doesn’t work for you, please share your details in a secure note. Please provide the following details

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin-level username and password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts

Thanks

I have followed the steps you mentioned on a clean install and found the below:

  • The Navigation Inline default menu in the Crafty Footer does not point to the menu created by Crafty and instead causes errors on the site. Updating this option to the Location: Footer Menu fixes the footer assignment problems.

  • The pages styling do not look as intended, initially. However, simply opening each one in Cornerstone, making any change and saving will fix this.
  • I installed the Email Forms plugin as you instructed, though, I’m not sure what this was for. I can’t see the Crafty is using this at all and the demo install does not create any Email Forms. What was this instruction for?
  • The Demo install creates a new shop page - though, WooCommerce already has this set up so the menu now points to a blank shop-2 page. Just updating in the menu and deleting the extra page resolves this.
  • Strangely the slug of the Contact page generated by the Demo install is also Contact-2, though this correctly points in the menu. Still, the slug should be resolved if using this page.
  • Lastly, The Demo install does NOT create any Products - even though it imports a bunch of product images specifically for products when installing. This has an effect on the homepage and product listing styles as they expect a number (minimum of 3) products to fully set up. Just adding your own products will resolve this.

I hope this helps anyone else trying to set up a blank slate with Crafty. Set up the Woocommerce plugin and your products first. and then install demo crafty before following the steps I’ve outlined above.

Good Luck and Happy Building!
Michael
