Cornerstone won't save since latest update

Since the automatic update of X last week, Cornerstone will not save anything. I can get in okay, with a “preview took too long, may be script error” popup. then everything works fine, Hit save, do some more, then the save button doesn’t work. Even if I leave after that first ‘successful’ save, nothing is really saved. I tried the tips in similar threads, about uninstalling and reinstalling cornerstone, clearing caches, etc. nothing works!

Hi @Aryn-B,

Thanks for writing in.

Please try the fix below. If still not helping, please share us your admin credentials so we could check your setup further. Just don’t forget to set it in a secure note.

  1. Install Transient Cleaner (https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/artiss-transient-cleaner/)
  2. Navigate Dashboard -> Tools -> Transients
  3. Set Clear Expired Transients -> Enable
  4. Select Run Now
  5. Set Remove All Transients -> Enable
  6. Set Remove All Transients -> Optimize Afterwards
  7. Select Run Now
  8. Recheck your Cornerstone for functionality

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Had to deactivate W3 total cache, to run transient cleaner. It successfully cleared 567 transients. Cornerstone still does not save anything, still have the same preview loaded slow, script conflict message on loading cornerstone. provided your secure note.
Thanks

Hello There,

I am another staff checking on this thread. I have edited your homepage and I added a section. This section will test if the changes is being saved or not. I am hiding this section in all screen sizes. I hit saved and viewed the page in incognito mode. ll my changes were saved. I have modified the section several times by adding a class, custom headline and other sort of things. All of the changes were saved as well. Please check your homepage and check the section I have added. You may remove it as well.

If you are experiencing the issue were your changes was not save, please provide us the url of the page so that we can take another round of investigation.

Thank you.

I am still having the same problem, although today it is not saying preview loading slow, script conflict anymore. I am trying to create a new blog post.

https://www.arynthelibraryan.com/favorite-preschool-edu-fun-successful/ is the post I discovered the problem. had to use Visual Editor instead of Cornerstone. I am going to have to format this week’s post the same way now. I didn’t realize how much I Liked Cornerstone until I can’t use it.

So To test, Please try to create a new blog post in Cornerstone, and save it. the first save, ‘saves’ or says it does, the second one does not, and that’s where you discover the first save didn’t really save either.

Hello There,

I have investigated the issue and I can confirm that Cornerstone is not saving when you create a post. Everytime you save the post you have created in Cornerstone there is a a fatal error;

https://www.arynthelibraryan.com/cornerstone-endpoint 500 (Internal Server Error)

Could you please enable the debug mode? You can do this by opening wp-config.php and adding the code below.
For example:

define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', true );

/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

When we do another round of test we should be able to pin point what is the error about.

Please let us know how it goes.

I’m sorry, I assume that because you couldn’t enable Debug, it’s something I have to do through Bluehost? but I need a little more instruction, because I’m totally Lost! I cannot find wp-config.php
Thanks for your help!

Hi,

You need login to ftp using Filezilla then you can find the wp-config.php file in the root folder of your site.

The ftp login is usually the same as your login to Bluehost.

Download the file to your computer, edit it using a text editor like notepad then upload again overwriting the old file.

Hope that helps

debugging mode is activated now. if you would please continue to check into why Cornerstone isn’t working? Thanks!

Hi there,

Unfortunately, I’m unable to capture the error as it redirects upon saving. Would you mind providing the debug.log file under /wp-content/ folder? Else, please provide your FTP login credentials as well.

Thanks!

attempting to upload Debug.log failed for formatting issue. added as a secure note/text

Hi There,

Please do testing for a plugin conflict (specially that nelio-content plugin). You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Do this while your caching plugin is cleared and deactivated.

Let us know how it goes,
Thanks.

With Nelio deactivated, Cornerstone works! :smile: Thank you!

I have deleted it, and was wondering what content sharing plugin IS compatible with x/cornerstone?

Hi There,

Glad it works for you now. As we don’t provide support for 3rd party plugins, you need to test another plugin that is compatible with your setup.

Thanks!
