Cornerstone won't allow me to edit content

When I go in to edit an already established page, cornerstone just displays a blank page template. I don’t want to redo all of the pages on my site, so I’m hoping there is a workaround. I can see the code in the text editor so it’s still “there”. Seems to be a conflict with Cornerstone pulling it in.

  1. WP and theme X are running the latest version
  2. Cornerstone is running the latest version
  3. I’ve already tried to disable plugins to see if there was a conflict - didn’t work.
  4. Cleared cache - didn’t work.
  5. Allocating more memory to PHP - didn’t work.

Any ideas on what else to try?

Thanks for writing in!
The page/post build outside cornerstone can’t be edited with cornerstone. If you will do some the content may damage, and can’t be revert back.

There is no work around redoing the content in cornerstone if those are not done with cornerstone editor. If the pages are build with cornerstone and not able to edit, please send us your login details in a secure note so that we can have a look.

Hi - to the best of my knowledge, none of the pages were edited outside of cornerstone. We hadn’t touched the site in over six months, then went in to edit some content and found this issue. We appreciate any help!

Hello There,

I have logged in to your site and most of your pages was edited outside of Cornerstone. When you click on the “Cornerstone” tab, you will be promptly with this message:

Hold up! The content has been modified outside of Cornerstone. Editing in Cornerstone will replace the current content. Do you wish to continue?

This means that the cornerstone data were already corrupted which is why when you view the Cornerstone live preview, it is empty. Your cornerstone layouts is already gone though the page code can be seen in the “Text” tab when you edit the page. Even if the “text” tab will display the code, the most important is the cornerstone data which holds all the information for the cornerstone live preview. I am afraid that you will have to recreate the pages in Cornerstone from scratch.
