Cornerstone will not launch after update

After the update the other morning, I’ve not been able to get Cornerstone to launch. I’m running X-theme v 7.0.1, which I believe is the most current. When I try to launch Cornerstone I just get a beach ball spinning endlessly.

To be sure it’s not a conflict with some other plugin, I disabled ALL plugins (except Cornerstone), and the same thing happened.

Help!

P.S. To be clear, I’m running Cornerstone 4.0.1 with X-Theme 7.0.1.

Hi @fiberdreams,

Thanks for reaching out.

It could be due to warnings, could you try updating to 4.0.2 and X 7.0.2? The fix for visible warnings are added on that version.

If the issue remain the same after the update then please provide your site’s URL and admin login credentials in the secure note and we’ll check.

Thanks!

I updated to 4.0.2 and 7.0.2, and continue to have the same problem: Cornerstone still will not launch. I’ll provide login credentials in a moment.

Hello @fiberdreams,

The given WP credentials is not working for us.
Please double check it in order for us to login and investigate this issue further.

Thank you in advance.

I’m so sorry! My bad. I have “new home-owner” brain right now! LOL

Hello @fiberdreams,

I have logged in and edited a few of your pages.
I did not encounter any issues at all. The page load in the preview editor.

You might just be having a browsing caching issues since you have updated to X 7.0.2 and Cornerstone 4.0.2. Most probably your browser is loading the cache version of the scripts. Please clear your browser cache or use private browsing mode and test your site again.

Please let us know how it goes.

Now I’m really confused. I cleared my browser cache, then restarted my browser just because. Logged in, tried again. Beach ball. I also tried it in a private window. Nope. Okay. Maybe it’s because I’m using Waterfox instead of something a little more mainstream. I launched Safari, and get the same results: nothing but a beach ball (it’s still spinning). Arg!

As an aside, I rarely reboot my Mac, leave it running all the time. Maybe if I reboot it’ll help?

Hey @fiberdreams,

Restarting your computer might help.

I also checked and Cornerstone works fine on my end too.

If it still doesn’t work on your end, please try using the Chrome browser. Also try using another computer and connecting to a different network or internet connection.

Thanks.

I’ll try rebooting later today. I’m in the middle of something else at the moment.

I.hate.Chrome. It’s not even on my computer. If Chrome is required to continue working with this theme then X Theme and I are done. Over. So long.

Hi @fiberdreams,

We only recommend chrome but it’s not restricted to that. I also tried Safari and other browsers and it works just fine, and it loads fast.

Please let us know if you still get the issue after reboot.

Thanks!

I run a VM with a PC in it. Tried Firefox (old, old, old) there, no joy. I went to my husband’s computer, logged in as him (so not something hinky with my profile), no joy. I tried my iPhone 5, and though it’s too tiny to use, it worked with Safari. Oh, and after rebooting, it still doesn’t work on my desktop box. Really? Sigh.

So, apparently the software is working fine, I can confirm what you found. I just can’t use it on my desktop computer. I’m on a 2011 iMac running OS X 10.11.6, which is as new as I can go, as I have some older software that isn’t compatible with newer operating systems. My Waterfox browser is up to date.

Hello @fiberdreams,

I have installed Waterfox in my iMac 2009 and I can confirm that Cornerstone will not load.

We recommend that you use the major browsers like Chrome or Firefox. If you are more concern about Privacy and other stuff, you can use Brave browser instead.

That’s interesting! Thank you for testing that. I’m glad it’s not just my computer. I’ve been using Waterfox for years, and X theme has behaved beautifully up until now. Frustrating.

Side note: my husband uses Waterfox, too (big surprise LOL).

I’ll try it in Firefox (maybe tomorrow), and let you know how it goes.

Hey @fiberdreams,

Yes sure, do let us know how it goes.

Cheers!

I just launched and updated Firefox, so it’s completely current. It works!!!

Thank you all so very much for hanging in here with me to figure this out. :sunglasses:
