Thank you for reaching out to us. First make sure your theme is updated and then you can simply delete Cornerstone via Plugins page and re-install the compatible version of Cornerstone through X > Validation screen. Once you’re inside the Validation screen, on the top of the screen click on Click here to install and activate link (see screenshot)

That is what I have done right after the update created havoc. What you have suggested just spits out the fatal error, unfortunately.

Please make sure that the X theme version is 8.3.3 before you update Cornerstone 5.3.3. You may also need to check if you have met the requirements before the update.
If nothing is helping, provide us access to your site so that we can check your settings. Please create a secure note with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WP login URL
– WP username
– WP password
– WP Administrator Role
- Confirmation that we can access and make changes to your site
