Cornerstone very slow + Classic Feature box problem

Hi,
we encounter the behaviour on various sites. The cornerstone editor is very slow, sometimes it takes 30 seconds and more to save a page. If I add a classic feature list item, it takes long to display. Please note that the sites run on a server with great performance, lots of ram. The PHP memory limit is 512MB per domain.
I tried various fixes which were here in the forum without success.

The second issue:
If I add a “classic feature box” with text and save it in cornerstone, everything is fine the frontend.
If for some reason I need to update the page (not in cornerstone but in normal view) by hitting save, the texts in the feature box are gone, until I resave the page in cornerstone.
The issue is, that if we have to change a page settings under the normal editor (e.g. autolinker, Seo settings etc.) we have to hit save in the normal view. However it breaks the classic feature box.

We tested it in Chrome and Firefox.

May I know what editing procedures you’re doing to reproduce this issue? I checked and it saves almost 3 seconds only. Or have you editing on text element directly? If your host limits the connections then that could be the reason as every change on a text element is equivalent to one connection. It happens on other builders too due to host limitation.

Thank you for your help Rad,
kindly check the page I sent and change a featured list item on that page (Write a heading some text, change the icon). You will see that even after editing it does not display right away, if you save it, it takes veeeery long.

Hi Matt,

I tried it and it saves in instant, but yes, I do see a delay on preview. And one thing I noticed is the page loads slower on live page which maybe affecting the preview since it’s basically loading the same page, except for preview.

And upon further checking, it happens for every 6th changes which equivalent on 6 connection requests. Your hosting may throttling it. For that, I recommend editing the text on a separate text editor like notepad and just copy paste the text. Don’t do the editing directly, else, you should contact your hosting provider to see why it’s being throttled.

The icon also change in instant, unless if you do the text editing first which confirm the issue and it is because of text editing, and each change is equivalent to connection request. Could be the same reason for saving since it’s done right after text editing. I downloaded the same content and tried on my installations and it’s not happening, although same theme and contents, the environment still have varying effect.

Thank you for the detailled analysis. I contacted the host with this information to see if a throtteling is happening on the connection requests.

Hi everybody,
as ThemeCo rightfully pointed out, the issue was with the host. As they were unable to find (?!?!?) the issue, we changed the host and transferred everything. Now everything works perfectly fine.

Hi,
could you kindly check the page again? We are now on a server that we have full control off - no throtteling. It works fine, except that the preview hangs quickly. The saving works normal.
What does not work is the color picker… This actually does not work on any of our domains anymore.

May I know how to reproduce those issues? I checked and the preview loads okay, and the color picker is also working. Please provide a video recording and we’ll check it :slight_smile:

Hi Rad,
feeling stupid right now :wink: In further tested it - it happens only in chrome, not in firefox.
Deleting the browser cache did not change it… Hence - switching to firefox.
I have no explanation though, but its fine :slight_smile:

Hi Rad,
I have no idea why, but now I wanted to record it in Chrome to find out, that it works again !!! The color picker works as well as the preview…
No idea why…
The only change on the server was to allow “image hotlinking” again, as it caused a caching issue on Nginx.
