I would suggest you follow the below steps while updating to the latest version of the theme.
- Delete the X theme and Cornerstone plugin then activate the default WordPress theme.
- Download the fresh copy of the X theme from the Themeco dashboard.
- Now install the X theme, use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone. It will be at the latest version
Please note you must take backup of files and database before following these steps.
