Cornerstone update breaks my theme and WordPress site

When updating the X theme to 9.1.4 I am then prompted to update Cornerstone as well. The theme updated fine but as soon as I installed cornerstone I got this error and my entire site is broken.

I cannot even access the WordPress dashboard. The only way to restore any functionality at all was to manually remove the Cornerstone folder from my WordPress Plugins folder. Re-installing Cornerstone simply breaks the site again. I am installing the most current versions of X (9.1.4) and Cornerstone (0.7.8). Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out.
It seems that you are trying to update the Cornerstone from the Plugin List. I would suggest you follow the below steps to update the Cornerstone to get the updated one.

1. Delete the existing Cornerstone
2. Use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone. It will be in the latest version

If you have already followed the steps and you are still getting the issue, then the PHP version might be another reason behind your issue. I would suggest you make sure that the PHP version should be 7.4.
If none of the above help, please copy your live site to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access to the secure note including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password
– FTP/CPanel credentials to access the files.

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.
