Cornerstone toolbar buttons icons hidden for only the LIVE site /https

The toolbar UI and buttons are all not displaying when I use Cornerstone. Sometimes I can hover over blank space, and see a tooltip to help me find the button I’m looking for and in some cases the button bars just don’t even show either

HOWEVER - if I copy my site to a staging version where accessibility is done on HTTP and NOT HTTPS I see all the buttons just fine.

Not being able to see these buttons inhibits being able to make changes. Given the above staging vs LIVE difference, any direction would be appreciated. Note the staging site was just created based off of LIVE.

Hi Catherine,

Thanks for reaching out!

There could be some settings like a 3rd party cache that doesn’t exist on the staging area but exist on the live website that causing your issue.

I recommend the following troubleshooting procedures before we investigate the settings.

  1. TESTING FOR THEME RELATED ISSUE
  2. TESTING FOR PLUGIN CONFLICT
  3. THEME UPDATE
  4. CHILD THEME
  5. CSS/JS CUSTOMIZATION
  6. VERSION COMPATIBILITY

Only if none of that helps, please give us the following information in a Secure Note.

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin level username and password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts.

Thank you.

Ok so if there was third party cache and I wanted that working, any thoughts on why icons may not be rendering? I’ll disable them for now though and see what that does.

Hello

Quick update here, on my https://staging8.catgelinas.com site, the icons are showing and while in HTTPS. I just checked all my siteground settings for staging versus WWW and I don’t see anything different.

  1. Reinstalled Cornerstone as well. I don’t see anything in the console errors. I see the same console warnings as I do while in staging where the icons do work

I’ll provide access to my site as I’m not sure what else I can do. I need some better logging, error messages or something.

Hi Catherine,

I have checked your live site and found the issue you are having and it seems that the SVG images used as icons are not accessible at your live site. Can you please make sure of the following points and share the login credentials of your staging server.

  1. Live and Staging sites both are running on the same server.

  2. Both have the same version of the theme.

  3. Both have the same plugins installed and activated.

If the staging is working fine and the staging is properly synced with the live one, I would suggest you try by migrating the staging into the live and check if that resolves the issues.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes to all 3 of those. I created a new staging site today, I verified the buttons were displaying and then promoted that site to live where they still don’t show.

Here’s access to my staging site if you want to verify the buttons are display. You can use the same username and password.

Hi Catherine,

It is really weird, there might be some issue related to your live server. Please check the few more points listed below:

1.Disabling Cache
2.Disabling CDN
3.Cloudfare settings, if activated.

Hope it helps.
Thanks
