Cornerstone Theme Options not displaying anything

I’m using Latest Posts under Wordpress Settings > Reading for my homepage layout, and it displays fine:

But when I want to edit the Theme Options with Cornerstone, nothing is displayed in the preview.

Do I need to create an empty page and assign this page under Wordpress Settings > Reading for anything to display when editing the Them Options?

Hello @Lunatic_Zorr,

Thanks for writing to us.

The preview option is available only when using the page builder. I recommend opening the page in edit mode and then making your changes within the Theme Options to preview those changes effectively.

Hope it helps
Thanks

Thanks for the reply @prakash_s,

But how do I open the page in Edit mode? I’m referring the the homepage, using the Latest Posts option in Wordpress, so it’s not using a static page or anything.

It would be great if when editing the Theme Options without choosing a specific page, it showed the default homepage… Is there any way to achieve this?

Thanks!

Hello @Lunatic_Zorr,

Once you have set the Latest Posts as your homepage displays, you cannot edit it because your homepage just displays the default blog index. If you create a custom blog index archive layout, then the layout preview will be displayed.

I will take note your feedback and add this to our enhancement list tracker.

Best Regards.

Thank you @ruenel

Is there any workaround I might implement to achieve this? As in custom code in the functions.php file or something similar? I’m creating pages for specific needs, but I generally use Latest Posts for my homepage and it’s somehow annoying to have to keep saving changes and then refreshing a different tab/window to see the changes. I’m pretty sure that when I started using X many years ago, when using Cornerstone to update the Global Options (stack, blog options, typography, layout, etc) it would load the homepage in the preview :slightly_frowning_face: A custom homepage is on the to-do list but wasn’t on the top priority at the moment.

Hey @Lunatic_Zorr,

Regretfully, we do not have a workaround for that. Please understand that in the Cornerstone Builder, it has 3 parts: the two side panels and the preview area. The preview area will display the page, header, footer, or layout that you are currently editing. The preview area cannot display default pages like the home index, blog index or any default pages.

Best Regards.

Thank you

I think this is definitely an enhancement that should be considered. Especially when using the Default Posts as homepage and wanting to edit the Theme Options.

Doing changes to the Stack, or specific Stack options, such as (for example) Filterable Index, enabling the Post Carousel, Slider (blog), Widgetbar, etc, without seeing these changes, and having to save and refresh a different screen is quite annoying.

With most themes that don’t use Cornerstone but the Wordpress Customizer, when editing the Theme Options you can see the homepage changing live, and make sure everything is as desired before saving the changes.

I think it would be a worthy enhancement. I also understand that the majority of your customers and X/Pro users probably don’t use Latest Posts as their homepage, and therefore it’s likely not a priority :slightly_frowning_face:
