Hi @svmmarcom,

I recommend the following troubleshooting procedures before we investigate your website.

  1. TESTING FOR THEME RELATED ISSUE
  2. TESTING FOR PLUGIN CONFLICT

Only if none of that help, please give us the following information in a Secure Note.

  • Admin level username and password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts.

Thank you.

Thank you! Secure note has been posted.

Hello Kathryn,

Thanks for providing the information. The issue is because you have an older version of the X theme (5.1.1) and Cornerstone (2.0.6) plugin. Could you please update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 7.2.3
  • Cornerstone 4.2.3

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog:

To learn more how you can update the theme and Cornerstone, please check out this documentation:

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Please let us know how it goes.

We’re on Bluehost and they have staging integration as beta, they tried helping setting up a staging site on a subdomain, but it’s pretty funky… The client has X - Child Theme installed. We didn’t develop this site of them so I’m not sure if / what modifications were made to that child theme. Can we still go with your recommendation below??

@svmmarcom,

Thanks for reaching out.

As long as the modifications were made to the child theme, then it is safe to upgrade the X theme and Cornerstone plugin to the latest version.

Hope it will help you to solve your concern.

Thank you.

Is there a way to find out?

Hi Kathryn,

Sorry, I accidentally lockout from your site, I activated W3 Total Cache to purge its cache but it seems that plugin has a serious issue on your site. Would you mind removing that plugin via FTP or cPanel. And then reinstall it and clear its cache.

I saw your WordPress version is still at 4.9, you need to update that to the latest version (5.4.2) before you can update X and Cornerstone to latest version.

The Cornerstone breaking issue most likely a caching related or a version incompatibility with plugins and/or WordPress itself.

Thanks,
