Cornerstone Permissions Issue

I don’t know if Themeco reset the permissions for Cornerstone, but after updating it, authors no longer had access to Cornerstone (the ‘Cornerstone’ tab wouldn’t appear in the edit page/post).

I went into X Theme’s settings and enabled pages and posts for authors.

After doing that, authors can now see the ‘Cornerstone’ tab. However, when they click the tab and click ‘edit with Cornerstone’, the edit page/post simply refreshes while set to the ‘Text’ tab.

I read a previous thread: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/cornersone-not-working/32867

Following the steps indicated there, I deactivated and deleted Cornerstone then went to X > Validations to reinstall it.

This did not resolve the issue.

This issue is apparent when logged in as an Author but not as an Administrator, which makes me think it might be a permissions issue.

Please help me resolve this issue. Thank you.

Hi There,

Thank you for writing in and sorry you’re having that issue, please navigate to X > Settings and re-configure the Permissions for your users.

Please read the Notes on Pro 2.1.0, X 6.1.0, Cornerstone 3.1.0 update for more details.

Changelog

Cheers!

As stated in my original post, I already changed the permissions to allow authors to use Cornerstone for pages and posts.

The problem is that the page/post editor refreshes (or takes the user back to the dashboard) when they click the ‘Edit with Cornerstone’ button in the ‘Cornerstone’ tab.

Hi @emwhy,

Do you have other role editing plugin? I logged in and the author itself has no editing capability. It can only view and duplicate the pages and posts, but not edit them. And since cornerstone honors the system’s imposed capability then it will not allow editing too. Would you mind providing your administrator login credentials too?

Thanks!

Tried it with and without the user editor plugin, but it resulted in the same behavior.

Also, admin credentials were already provided in my original post.

Thanks.

Hello There,

I am another staff checking in. I have logged in as an Editor and I was able to create a test page.

Please see the secure note.

Hi,

I logged into the test author account and was able to use Cornerstone for that page. However, when I try to create a new page > Cornerstone > Edit with Cornerstone, it still creates an error where it takes me back to the dashboard.

This is after I cleared browser cache.

Thank you.

Hello There,

Please create a new page, add your title and click saved. Once Saved, you can then click the “Edit in Cornerstone”. You have to save the page/post first even at least as Draft before you can edit it in Cornerstone. That is the way how I was able to create the test pages.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Has it always been like this?

Will we be allowed to make pages in Cornerstone without saving/making a draft in the future?

Thanks.

Hey there,

Yes, it has always been like that. You need to save as draft or publish the page. I currently see no plans for changing this.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for letting me know.

You’re welcome! And name is removed
