This page was working until today, I viewed it, edited it in Cornerstone, and now it doesn’t load properly.
It gives me error 500 in Chrome. In Safari it just loads a blank screen
Hello Jeremy,
Thanks for writing in! The mentioned page url is not working on my end too. It resulted to an error 500. Can you please enable the debug mode? You can do this by opening wp-config.php and adding
define('WP_DEBUG', true);
/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
When you revisit the page, you should have some error output describing the issue in more detail.
Ok I have done that
Hello Jeremy,
I am still not seeing any information about the error. Would you mind providing us the url of your site with login credentials so we can take a closer look and fix the issue?
To do this, you can make a post with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password
- FTP Hostname
- FTP Username
- FTP Password
To know how to create a secure note, please check this out: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-to-get-support/288
Thank you.
Hello I can do that but I have my admin page secured by IP. Do you have an IP address or range that I can whitelist?
Hello Jeremy,
Thanks for updating the thread.
Themeco staff are based on different geographical locations and use Dynamic IP address. So it’s difficult for us to give a IP or range to whitelist.
I suggest you to copy the website on a staging server that does not has IP filtering system and then share the details with us using secure note.
You can refer following resource to set up staging site.
Thanks.
Ok that’s not gonna work for me right now so I’ve just removed the IP restrictions for now.
Hi Jeremy,
I am able to login on your wordpress admin. We still need FTP credentials to access your error log. The page still shows ERROR 500. Error log will show the root cause of the issue. Another option for you is to ask your server provider for the error log. It can only be access via FTP.
ok here goes
Hi Jeremy,
Thank you for the credentials, but that FTP account seems to set to view only specific folder, not the Wordpress folder. Please confirm. You can provide us cPanel as well if you’re having an issue setting up FTP account.

Can you give us brief details of that page? is there any custom code on that page? Is there a shortcode? Can you try deactivating the plugin that provides that shortcode?
I notice that you’re using SG Cache and Cloudflare, please Clear and Deactivate this caching for awhile.
Cloudflare - How do I purge my cache?
Cheers!
Hello, I have recreated the FTP account with the path moved up as far as it would let me.
Also I have flushed both of those caches and disabled both of the caching for the time being.
The page is built in cornerstone and I think it was a fairly basic page. Unfortunately I cannot edit it either so I can’t really see what’s going on in it.
Also, I created a new staging environment and disabled all the plugins. The page loaded, although obviously it didn’t display the cornerstone content properly. I then enabled only one plugin, Cornerstone, and the page again failed to load.
Hi Jeremy,
I am able to access error log though I am not able to find anything related to the error. No details of 500 Internal server error from the log. We’re sorry this is taking this long but at this point, we need you to check in with your hosting provider. They can give you details about it or fixed it for you. Basic troubleshooting has been done already and both admin and frontend shows that 500 internal server error.
Basic troubleshooting done yes, but how on earth is this related to my hosting provider? The page loads fine until I enable the Cornerstone plugin. I’m getting pretty frustrated with the quality of support here. I’ve isolated the problem right down to the exact plugin that is causing the issue. Cornerstone. The issue is Cornerstone. I can tell you exactly what my hosting provider is going to tell me. “The site loads fine without this plugin. Contact plugin support.”
Hey Jeremy,
We understand it’s stressful to see your site broken but we couldn’t suggest a fix if we couldn’t see the specific error. Your error log just ends with these lines that do not tell the error is coming from Cornerstone. Please note that a server can mess up any plugin if there’s a problem with its configuration. It just happened that it messed up with Cornerstone.

I checked your page again and it looks like your web host or server is now working and Cornerstone’s working even after editing.
Thanks.
