Cornerstone page buggy - accordion styling ignored, random italics, templates not working

Hello, I’m a long time X user but I’m finally trying to build a page in Cornerstone for the first time. I’m experiencing some issues that I can’t find the source of. Here is the page I have in development: https://scwfit.com/dc/certs-test/

PROBLEM 1: there are two accordions on the page so far. They BOTH have the same preset applied. The preset is not working on the top one, but it is working on the second one. The top accordion has no spacing between the items even though spacing is set and the styling preset is applied.

PROBLEM 2: The text on buttons is appearing in italics, although I have not added this styling. Weirdly, the links in my WP admin bar are also italicized ONLY on this one page, which is the only page I have built with Cornerstone (see screenshot)

Neither of these issues appear in the Cornerstone editor, only in the preview and on the published page.

PROBLEM 3: I tried to save this page as a template, but when I download it and try to import it into a different site I get the error: “Uh oh! Sorry! Your file is not properly formatted.” I am able to save templates from global blocks with no problem, it’s just an issue with this Cornerstone page.

I just updated everything and it did not fix the issues. Can you help? Thanks!

Hello @carlyas,

Thanks for writing in!

1.) You are experiencing the issue because you have inserted incorrect html tag.

SCW AQUATIC EXERCISE CERTIFICATION <em>with Jeff Howard<em>

SCW YOGA I CERTIFICATION <em>with Manuel Velazquez<em>

ONE DAY TO WELLNESS <em>with Bruce & Mindy Mylrea<em>

The <em> tag must be closed properly with </em>. Please correct all three of the accordion item titles.

SCW AQUATIC EXERCISE CERTIFICATION <em>with Jeff Howard</em>

SCW YOGA I CERTIFICATION <em>with Manuel Velazquez</em>

ONE DAY TO WELLNESS <em>with Bruce & Mindy Mylrea</em>

2.) This is because of the issue generated with the #1. The rest of the page were set to italics because you did not close the <em> tag properly.

3.) Still because of the issue in #1.

Please correct the tag in issue #1 and test your page again.

Hi, thanks for your response. Sorry about that—silly mistake. I corrected the tags and it took care of problems 1 and 2, but I am still experiencing problem 3—I cannot upload the template to a different site.

Additionally, since I made the corrections, the right column changed. Before the column seemed to end where the content ended (which is what I want), but now the background color extends all the way to the bottom of the page. Is there a way to have the background color end where the content in that column ends?

Thanks again!

Hello @carlyas,

Please give us access to your site so that we can download the template and test it in out local testing server. We need to investigate why you can not import the template into a new page or site.

Meanwhile, since you have added the background color to the color, it extends to the end. With the new row and column, it features the flex box options which usually have the same equal column heights. If you intend to have the background color not to extend to the bottom of the page, please do the following:

  • Please edit your page back in the editor.
  • Remove the background color and make it transparent
  • In your column, insert a new row element with one column in it.
  • Move your search, texts, line and button elements into this new column
  • Apply a background color to this new column.

The background color of the new column nested in your current column should only display up till the end of the column contents.

Hope this makes sense.

Hi, sorry for the late response. I was able to fix the column background with that method, thank you!

I also applied the template to a different page in the same site, saved THAT page as a new template, and for some reason now I can upload it to other sites as well. Not sure what the bug was but it seems to be working now, if I encounter the issue again I will write back. Thank you for your help!

More likely it’s a caching related issue, and please make sure the recipient site of the template is also on the latest version, as the X 7 versions has new features that are not the previous.

Happy holidays,
Cheers!
