Cornerstone not working - no welcome message showing

Hi there,

I cannot get Cornerstone to work with my X theme. All the plugins and the theme is up to date. I also updated the wp config file as suggested in the forum to 512MB, updated to PHP 7 through my host, but still cannot get the Cornerstone builder to work. Even the pages I downloaded as demo content do not show the “welcome to Cornerstone” message. I only see my header and footer on each page but cannot add sections at all. I am completely stumped on what can be causing this. Also deactivated all other plugins to see if one of them is causing the issue and checked the htaccess - nothing.

Any help is appreciated.

Many thanks,
Sylvia

Hi @Mama_Miod,

Thanks for writing in.

I could see that you have tried other possible solutions. In this case, please share us your admin credentials in a secure note so we could check your setup closer.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Hello there,

I have logged into your site with About page opened in Cornerstone, and confirmed it loaded smoothly. I’ve also added a section to test it.

Please confirm if this has been resolved.

Thank you.

Hello there,

Yes, in the layout pane I can add sections but the issue seems to be that I cannot see the sections in the preview to the right once they are added (which also disables me from adding in elements by dragging and dropping). Am I doing something wrong? Each new section should be clearly visible in the preview but
instead I continue only seeing my header, footer, and the blank white section.

Many thanks for your help!

Hi There,

Please do a testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Hi there,

So I deactivated all plugins and the problem unfortunately persists. I also tried using a different browser - internet explorer - but with this one, cornerstone never fully loaded. It just stayed on the loading screen/circle.

Any other ideas on what I can do?
The strange part is that even the demo pages/posts do not show any sections.

Thanks

Hey There,

I can confirmed that the Cornerstone preview pane is not loading the sections or content elements where you can edit them. This could be cause by a corrupt file or something. Could you please provide us ftp access so that we can investigate further? Meanwhile, please try to re install Cornerstone and the X theme to make sure that the files is not corrupt and are up to date.

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.

Hi there,
I’m adding a secure note with the FTP access below

Hi There,

Thank you for the credentials, I did everything I could but no dice. Would you mind switch to your parent X theme? and see if that resolves the issue. If not, then try re-installing the X theme, there might be a corrupted file in the theme that is causing the issue. What is hard about this is the browser console is not giving any errors.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Hi there,

So I got it to work! The issue seems to be with the Ethos theme. I switched over to Integrity and also tested Icon & Renew which work. Let me know if you guys find anything further about the Ethos theme, because I would really like to use that one.

Also, I want to thank you guys for the support!

Cheers,
Sylvia

Hi there,

That is a strange case which I have never encountered. I added few tet pages and checked the case and indeed it is only the Ethos stack that causes the issue. Interestingly that is not the case in my installation and 2 other installations that I checked.

There must be a problem with your installation. I suggest that you reinstall the theme or better try to install the WordPress from scratch and do not add the demo content.

Just add a page and test the case, I also suggest that you check the case by moving your website to your local machine or another hosting service provider to make sure it is not something related to the server.

Thank you.

Hi there,

Ok, I will re-install WordPress & the theme to see if this resolves the issue as well as see if it is server-related.

Many thanks for the help!

Best,
Sylvia
