Cornerstone not showing preview

I returned to my site after not maintaining it a while and updated all plugins. I also followed Wordpress instructions about updating PHP or something. I just went to Siteground and chose the option for them to automatically update it.

Not sure what caused the problems, but I can’t preview page building in Cornerstone now. I have backups if I need to restore…

Hi Jacob,

Thanks for reaching out.
It seems that the X (version 7.2.1) theme has not been updated to the latest version but the Cornerstone (version 5.1.5) has been updated to the latest version. The issue you are having might be due to the incompatibility between X and Cornerstone. I would also suggest you follow the below steps while updating the X theme and the Cornerstone.

  1. Delete the Cornerstone existing one
  2. Update the X theme to the latest version on automatic updates
  3. After deletion of the Cornerstone, please use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone.

If that does not resolve the issue, I would suggest you troubleshot a few common issues on this.

1.Plugin Conflict
2.Child Theme Related issue
3.Theme Update related issue
4.CSS/JS Customization

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If none of the above helps and you are still getting the issue, please copy your live site to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.

Hi tristup, thank you. How come my automatic updates hasn’t updated X? I have it set to automatic, I don’t know how to do it otherwise.

Also I’m afraid I’ve made matters worse, I just restored an older version of the site/database and now I’m locked out of admin because the password was different back then. I forget how I fixed this before when it happened, could you tell me?

Thanks

Hi Jacob,

You can update X theme automatically via Dashboard > Updates > Themes, select X from the list of themes and press Update Themes button.

You can find the latest version numbers here: (https://theme.co/docs/version-compatibility) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site. If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.

You can simply reset your password using your email address, please see https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/#through-the-automatic-emailer

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much everybody, I see support here is still awesome as usual

You are most welcome Jacob.
