Just set up a staging website for my main website to play with a new theme, and the Cornerstone builder won’t load. Just a spinning wheel of death (though I am partially able to see the page beneath the foggy screen. No idea what to do.
I may not have installed the new theme properly from Design Cloud. I meant to take the new theme for a test drive before installing it and editing it and that may be part of the problem I’m assuming now. Would appreciate someone taking a look at it. Secure note attached.
Hello @ConjuringMind,
Thanks for writing in! Please make sure that you have updated the theme and plugins to the latest version.
Our latest versions are:
- X theme
8.1.2
- Cornerstone
5.1.2
- WordPress
5.6
- PHP
7.4
This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog:
After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.
By the way, your staging area is incorrect. No WordPress installed in the given credentials.
See the secure note.
Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks for the info, but I deleted the entire staging site and that’s why. I’ve grown tired of messing with it. Sorry but I thought I withdrew this entire post earlier.
I’ve just re-created the staging site, made sure everything was completely up-to-date, and cleared the cache. Still having the same problem. You should be able to log in at the credentials previously noted. If not I’ve attached the Admin login credentials in the secure note here.
Hi @ConjuringMind,
I can’t login to your website because the 2FA is enabled in your website but I have some idea why cornerstone is not loading on your end.
The reason why the cornerstone is not loading on your staging because of compatibility issue of X and cornerstone plugin. Currently, you have an old X theme version 8.0.11 and you have the latest version of Cornerstone which is 5.1.2 and that’s’ the reason for your problem. To fix your issue, first, you need to deactivate and uninstall your cornerstone plugin to avoid any conflict when upgrading your X theme. Second, upgrade your X theme to the latest version and the last thing you should do is install the cornerstone plugin again.
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
Thanks for your input. I’ve disabled the 2FA so you should be able to log in. I upgraded all as you said. I was surprised that X was outdated as when I checked the latest versions within the WP Dashboard it said there was “Nothing To Report” when I checked for updated versions. Yet when I went into the Themes menu there it was waiting to be updated. Anyway, I did as you said and uninstalled Cornerstone, updated X, and re-installed Cornerstone and I seem to be still getting the same problem. I even have this problem on the main site as well so I am still unable to edit anything in Cornerstone.
Hello @ConjuringMind,
Thanks for sharing the credentials, I checked your site it seems that there are some issue cache and JS/CSS minification by Autoptimize plugin because of that the builder is not working properly.
I would suggest you temporarily deactivate the Autoptimize plugin and then check it again.
Thanks
