Cornerstone not displaying post correctly at backend

Cornerstone is not correctly displaying the page at backend, which makes editing impossible. Only seems to be doing it with posts (not pages). I have tried updating Wordpress, clearing cache, different browsers, restarting PC but it all points to a Cornerstone issue? This only started since I updated to the latest version of Cornerstone.

Example Test Page with the following settings:
Wordpress End

  • Fullwidth Post Layout

  • Post attributes template set to a pre-defined template that spreads full width and places meta data under the post.

As you can see from the two screenshots, at front end absolutely fine, as intended. At back end, it displays the meta data at the top and the full width is not showing.

All worked absolutely fine until the latest Cornerstone update. I really could welcome some help as I have been trying to create a page for the last 24 hours and struggling now.

Hello @ocduk,

Thanks for writing in!

You are using the Post Template.

Regretfully the Post template is not supported in the Pro editor and that is why when you edit the post, it does not display the same as the live view of the page.

Hope this explains your issue briefly.

Hello, thank you for the reply, but I am a little confused as it always used to work until you updated Cornerstone. Are you saying that X Theme / Cornerstone editor now only works with Wordpress Pages? Not Wordpress Posts?

I was always recommended to build my latest news content as posts, not a page?

Hello Ashley,

The X theme and Cornerstone builder can be used to edit the pages or posts. Only that the Featureless Post template that you are using is not supported in the Cornerstone builder. When you edit a post, Cornerstone will use the default X theme post template.

Hope this makes sense.

Ok I understand. How do I make the standard post allow some elements to be full page width?

Thanks.

Hello Ashley,

In case if you are using Cornerstone editor in that case you need to go to -->Row–>set the Global container as “OFF” to make the section full width.

Hello-world-Content-Pro

Hope it helps
Thanks

I have tried that, with the default post it doesnt expand to the edge of the screen. If I set the global container of the row, this happens.

The row expands to the edge of the section I assume? The section seems contained within that central container.

I am really struggling here guys, it’s been 4 days since I tried to create a post and I still can’t. The issue seems to be Cornerstone, not my website.

Please help me find a resolution.

Hello Ashley,

As I have mentioned, the post template is not supported in Cornerstone. We do not have a solution for that at the moment. Therefore, to make sure that your section is fullwidth, revert back your setting and select the Featureless Post template. While editing in Cornerstone, simply ignore the left and right sides because when viewing the live view of the page, all of those sections will always be fullwidth because of the Featureless Post template. The post header and the post meta can be ignored while editing in Cornerstone as well knowing that it will not display when viewing the live view of the page.

Hope this makes sense.

Ok, is that something you plan to fix?

How easy is it for me to roll back to the previous version of cornerstone until fixed?

Hello Ashley,

Yes, our developer will be adding support to post templates in the future releases of the theme.

If you roll back to the previous version of the theme, you can encounter issues and problems because the previous version does not work with WordPress 5.7.

Best Regards.
