Cornerstone isn't loading or extremely slow

http://www.odendaalartenontwerp.nl/oao_ontzorger_3038/

Hi I’ve got a problem with cornerstone, it isn’t loading or extremely slow. The frontend is OK, but in the backend (Edit with Cornestone) I only see these spinning wheels instead of my content and this makes it unable to edit.
Tried to empty the cache, deleted all unneeded images, disabled ALL the plugins, edited wpconfig.php but neither of that changed a thing.

Can you help me with that?
I can provide my inlog en password in a private message.

Hi @odendaaltje,

Thanks for writing in.

First please try to install and run Transient Cleaner

1. Install Transient Cleaner
2. Navigate Dashboard -> Tools -> Transients
3. Set Clear Expired Transients -> Enable
3. Set Clear Expired Transients -> Clean Now
5. Set Remove All Transients -> Enable
6. Set Remove All Transients -> Optimize Afterwards
7. Set Remove All Transients -> Clean Now
8. Save Changes
9. Recheck your Cornerstone for functionality

If still not helping, please share us your admin credentials so we could check your setup closer. Don’t forget to set it in a secure note.

There could be a text element that causing this spinning loading icon. You could try also removing it one by one. Just don’t forget to have a backup with the text elements you remove.

Hope it helps.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Hey @odendaaltje,

I checked your site and I see the loading issue. There are a few of items that we need to check aside from the transients.

  1. Clear all caches including browser cache then deactivate your caching plugins and other optimization plugins.

  2. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.

  3. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

  4. Remove custom CSS, Javascript and templates.

  5. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.

  6. Contact your host to increase your allocated memory or do it yourself by adding this code in your wp-config.php

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );
define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );

If nothing helps, please give us cPanel access.

Thanks.

Hello again, I’ve tried all suggestions you made, except for nr 2 because I didn’t quiet understand what that was
Then I’ve changed the theme from child to X, also no result.

When I looked in web-info I always see 4 to 6 error messages:
[Error] Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) (cs.css.map, line 0)
[Error] Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) (preview.css.map, line 0)
[Error] Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) (cs-vendor.map, line 0)
[Error] Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) (cs.map, line 0)
So I’ve tried to upload an empty textile with these names, now my error messages are gone, but the spinning wheels are still there…

by cPanel you mean access to my database? I’ll send them in a private message…

Thanks, Susan

Hi there,

Looks like your hosting has built-in security that blocks IP when the consecutive requests are issued (like cornerstone requests). Right now, your site is completely down on my end after loading the builder and the only way to access it again is to turn off my router for a couple of minutes OR renew my IP (whichever works to reset my IP). I thought I have internet connectivity issue, but it’s not.

If you have a security like that then please turn it off while we’re testing until we finally get to the bottom of the issue.

Thanks!

Thanks. I asked my hosting provider and they say that this could be very possible. They suggest a managed VPS which is rather expensive. I don’t know yet if I want that.
But in the meantime I cannot use X with cornerstone. Can you suggest another visual composer?
I would be very sad if I couldn’t use X anymore…

Kind regards, Susan

Hi Susan,

It is not really necessary to upgrade your hosting to a managed VPS as it might be too much for a single site.

Is there a chance that you could provide us with the FTP details of your site?

If you are not able to use Cornerstone, you may use the WPBakery Page Builder and you can install it in the addons page. But please note that this is a separate page builder to Cornerstone.

Thanks. I’ll give you the FTP details in a secure note. If nothing works I’ll try WP bakery…

Hey @odendaaltje,

This really looks like a problem with your host. You don’t need a VPS like @Jade said, but, you should consider a quality, trusted by many share hosting like Siteground. Here’s a guide on how to select the best host for you.

Thanks.

Thank you - but I’m not considering a new host.
I think my host is OK, I never experienced problems with them.

I’ll try WPBakery.

You’re welcome.
