Cornerstone - iframe response error

Cornerstone was working fine until I updated php and the theme. With the X theme, the cornerstone editor no longer works. With a default theme it works. Please advise on what to do when the issue is caused by the theme?
Thanks in advance.

Hello @neojits,

Thanks for writing in! Could you please make sure that you have updated to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 8.2.3
  • Cornerstone 5.2.3
  • WordPress 5.7
  • PHP 7.4

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog:

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Hi @ruenel,
According to the theme, my installed version is 7.2.3, but when I “check for updates”, it returns 'unable to check for updates. Try again later."

Is there an obvious fix for this or an alternative way to update/confirm version ThemeX?

Hi @neojits,

Please make sure that your website is still validated and update your theme to the latest version. Please note that before updating the theme, uninstall first the cornerstone plugin to avoid any conflict when updating your X theme to the latest version. Second, update the theme to the latest version, and third, install again the cornerstone plugin.

You can also download the latest version of the X theme in your themeco dashboard.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Hi @marc_a, I downloaded the latest them from the dashboard. I’m going to backup my site.

can you confirm: To update to the latest version, is it a matter of replacing the old ‘x’ theme folder with the newly downloaded ‘x’ theme folder?

Hello, @neojits,

I would recommend you purge all the cache so that the latest code renders poperly. I would also suggest you follow the below steps after clearing the cache.

  1. Delete the Cornerstone
  2. Reinstall the X theme to the latest version
  3. After the X theme is installed now install the Cornerstone plugin.

If it doesn’t work for you please share your credentials along with FTP details in the secure note.

Hope it helps
Thanks

Hi @prakash_s,

Is ‘reinstalling theme x’ a matter of simply pasting the new theme x folder, replacing the old one?

Hi @neojits,

You can go to Appearance > Themes in your dashboard and click “Add New” then “Upload Theme”. WordPress will detect that X already exists but allow you to replace it. This is the best way to update manually or reinstall a theme. Replacing over FTP isn’t reliable because with most clients it doesn’t remove files that no longer exist in the new bundle.
