Cornerstone "Hide Based on Screen Width" feature request

Hi Support,

This is a small but really annoying and I think important problem: When I use the “Hide Based on Screen Width” feature in Cornerstone, the element will be also hidden in Cornerstone for the chosen screen width.

Can you change it, so that hidden elements are always visible in Cornerstone (maybe as an optional setting)? I think, it even was this way some time ago?

Because:

  1. It is really annoying to have to change the screen width to see the hidden elements to make some changes (like described here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/cornerstone-issue-hide-based-on-screen-width/39928/2).
  2. If you make changes a few months later, you often simply forget to make them also for the hidden elements (“Out of sight, out of mind…” ). Especially end users, which are not that adept with the concept of responsive design.

Thanks and best regards,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for reaching out.

As per suggestion in that thread, I recommend using the device view. It will be more troublesome if all elements are displayed regardless of view. It’s much more better if the design you’ll see on the front is the same design while you’re on design mode and it’s intended that way.

Thanks for the request!

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. I understand that’s the intended way, but my points are still valid.

As I said, wouldn’t it be possible to make it optional? Or at least somehow indicate in Cornerstone, if/where the hidden elements are?

I know that this will obviously not come in the next few updates. But is my request at least “officially” recorded and will be considered?

By the way: Is there still no feature request system for X/Cornerstone, where users can vote (for example like this: https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas)? I think that would be really useful.

Thanks and best regards,
Michael

Hey Michael,

Thanks for your feedback. I’ll post this as feature request.

Regretfully, there is not feature like you’re example. But, you can give feedback here and we’ll post it as feature request so it might be taken into consideration in future developments.

Thanks for considering my feature request!

You’re welcome!
