Cornerstone for posts

Hey all,

I’d just to ask for some advice. Would you guys recommend using Cornerstone for single posts? I’m in the process of developing a website and I’m trying to think long term.

I know Cornerstone is using shortcodes to place content. Let’s say that Cornerstone will be discontinued in 10 years from now. Would that mean I would lose all my content from all those years?

Another example: I am loving this theme and have used it for years; but what if someday in the future I’d like to use another theme. Will all my single posts build with cornerstone be gone?

I’d love some unbiased advice.

Thank you so much!

Hello @RickyWolff,

Thanks for asking.

  1. Absolutely, you can use Cornerstone for single posts. It becomes fairly easy to create posts using Cornerstone elements.
  2. First, it’s a hypothetical situation and I don’t think it will happen ever. But let’s say if Cornerstone is phased out, you won’t lose your content because the builder is hosted on your server. As long as builder is active on your website, it’s totally fine and there won’t be any issues with content.
  3. If you choose to use another theme and you choose to retain Cornerstone there won’t be any issue. You can keep on using Cornerstone alongside a different page builder like Visual Composer. However, if Cornerstone is deactivated and removed then that’s a problem as those posts will display nothing but shortcodes. So in that case you will have to create those posts again.

Thanks.

Thank you so much for the reply!
