Cornerstone Error Saving: Single Page Only

Hello,

I am getting an error when trying to save Cornerstone, here is a snapshot from Chrome’s console:

Failed to save Error saving content elements: Unable to save content: 0. Error: Error saving content elements: Unable to save content: 0
at h4 (app.react18.7.4.20.js?ver=7.4.20:19:159412)
at async app.react18.7.4.20.js?ver=7.4.20:19:162665

What is unusual about this is it is only happening on one page - https://trustco.co.uk/who-we-are/

It seems there is an element on the page in the “meet the team” section that is causing the error, as when I delete this section, the page will save. However this is not a viable fix, as I want these elements to remain.

I have done the usual: Like disabling all plugins, clearing the Cornerstone cache, etc. I have also moved to a staging environment and the problem persists.

Please can you give me some idea on what to try next to get this page to save?

Thanks.

Hi @littleshock,

It seems that the mod_security is enabled on your site, and that causes the issue in calling the Cornerstone endpoints while saving the content. If that is enabled, please disable it and check if that resolves your problem or not. I would suggest you go through the following article, which may help you with this.

https://www.interserver.net/tips/kb/how-to-disable-mod_security-and-why-it-is-not-recommended/

If you don’t have access to do that, please get in touch with your Hosting Service provider to do that.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Thanks for your quick reply. Unfortunately disabling mod security, then trying to save, did not result in any different outcome.

Is there anything else you can suggest to resolve the issue or suggest why it is only these elements that are causing issues?

Hi @littleshock,

Sorry for the confussion, I completely missed the Single Page mentioned in the title. If you are having such an issue on only one page, that means you are having the issue with the content mostly. I would suggest you duplicate the page and delete the sections one by one on that page until the issue is fixed, and the last one you delete might have contained the broken HTML.
If that does not help, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

Hope it helps.

Hi @tristup, I have identified the section in which the elements sit, if you see my first post:

" It seems there is an element on the page in the “meet the team” section that is causing the error, as when I delete this section, the page will save. However this is not a viable fix, as I want these elements to remain."

I have a staging website that I use for testing, I will add these details as secure notes.

Hi @littleshock,

Unfortunately, the mentioned section has already been deleted from the Who We Are page. It seems that the section has already been deleted at your staging site, and we are not able to check it. Please remember that we don’t offer any support or investigation on custom content or related issues.

Thanks

I have imported the page from the live site (minus the images, which didn’t import correctly). The staging page is now giving the same error when I try and save. Are you able to investigate the issue now?

Hi @littleshock,

I have already checked the specific page, and by changing a few content temporarily, I was able to save it. If you are still facing the same issue, I would suggest you follow the steps I described earlier to delete the sections one by one. If that does not help, please create a screen-captured video to replicate the steps to reproduce the issue.

Thanks

Hi @tristup thank you for your help in trying to resolve this, however this issue still remains.

Here is a video of the main website page (the one I imported to the staging site) - https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/05eHHN0GG6fT_b9H09ZNRBRew#Screen_Recording_2024-06-12_at_08.57

As you can see, when I try to save, I get an error message and the content will not publish. When I open the live page it exists, but there is no content.

I hear what you are saying about removing elements, and as I have explained, if you delete the “meet the team” section it will work. But I need that section to remain. Simply saying “delete the bits that don’t work” isn’t really a solution here.

Please let me know how I can get this working.

Thanks.

Hi @littleshock,

I created a new page and imported the Who We Are 2024 saved template and after a thorough investigation, I found that the dragon sign in the sub-headline content mentioned in the screenshot is the reason behind your problem.

I would suggest you remove that and check if that works for you. Please remember that we don’t offer any support to the custom content and related issues.

Thanks

Hi @tristup - the issue was in the text “1s and 0s”, once I highlighted and deleted that particular phrase, the page saved. It was not to do with the emoji / icons.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi @littleshock,

Glad that you are able to find that. When I tested it, removing the emoji saved the page.

Thanks
