Cornerstone conflict with Microsoft Teams

My client uses Microsoft Teams for virtual collaboration. Today I demonstrated recent X changes (Cornerstone 5.0.10) via a shared screen in Teams, and discovered that clicking on an element does not open the inspector for that element; instead, nothing happens. If I stop sharing my screen, functionality returns to normal.

The problem exists when using Microsoft Edge and Chrome; however, a shared FireFox screen works correctly.

Previous releases of X (up to Cornerstone 4.x) did not exhibit this problem.

Thanks.

Hi @mikerayjones,

Thanks for reaching out.

I test my staging environment while using Microsoft Teams and share it via a shared screen in Teams. but I couldn’t replicate the issue on my end.

I suggest that you clear your browser cache and deactivate all your browser extensions and also check windows update. I also created a short video to test my staging environment while using Microsoft Teams, see secure note.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Thanks Marc. Your video was really helpful. I saw that you shared the entire screen, using the web version of Teams. I had been sharing just the browser application, using the desktop Teams app. I tried again doing it your way, and it worked fine.

Could you please test again, sharing just the browser via the Teams desktop app? This use case still seems to fail in the way I described.

Hey @mikerayjones,

Thanks for the details. I have replicated the issue and will add this to our issue tracker so this case will be queued investigation by our development team.

I just want to manage your expectation here that we do not guarantee to provide a fix for Microsoft Teams compatibility. Our team is going to look at how many users use Microsoft Teams to decide whether to support it or not.

Thanks.

Thanks Christian. Sharing the whole screen seems to be a good work-around.

You’re welcome, Mike!
