Cornerstone 404 after updating Pro

Hello,

I have updated a website to Pro V 6.0.3 and now Cornerstone shows a 404 error. To remedy the situation I have:

  • Cleared the Cornerstone cache
  • Changed my permalinks structure
  • Changed the standard URL of Cornerstone from /cornerstone to /editor
  • Ensured there are no conflicts in terms of page names
  • Disabled all plugins
  • Switched back and forth between Pro and a Pro Child Theme

Can you advise what I can do to fix this situation?

Many thanks for you support.

Hi @littleshock,

Thanks for reaching out.
Although it is very difficult to recognize the problem without investigating it through the WordPress admin dashboard, still, I would suggest you deactivate and delete the Pro and reinstall it by downloading it from your Themeco Account once again, and check if that resolves your issue.
If that does not help, there might be some different reasons behind your issue. I would suggest you, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hello, I am happy to try a fresh install. Can I please confirm that my Cornerstone / Pro settings and pages will not be lost in the process?

If this does not work, I can provide you with an admin login for the site.

Many thanks for your support

Hi @littleshock,

All the settings are stored in the Database and will not be affected due to the reinstallation of the Pro. If that does not help, please share the credentials for further investigation.

NOTE: I would also suggest you take a backup of your website before doing it, so you can restore it.

Thanks

Hello, unfortunately a fresh install of the theme has not fixed the issue. I am attaching a secure note with login credentials for the site. If you could assist that would be amazing.

Hi @littleshock,

Which page are you trying to access that give your an Error 404? When I check the pages, I can access it with no issues. I have just updated your permalink settings by the way in Settings > Permalinks.

  • Please check out the links in the secure note

Best Regards.

Hi @ruenel,

I think having the “under construction” plugin active has given a false impression, I have no deactivated it. Please try and access the Cornerstone editor now and see if you get a 404. I still do.

You may need to highlight the text to see it as it’s white on white - I cannot change that as I can’t access Cornerstone.

Thanks.

Hello @littleshock,

I checked your site it seems that the Cornerstone is working fine at my end. I have tested it on Google Chrome version 109.0.5414.75. Please have a look at the given screen recording video in the secure note. Please let us know your browser and its version.

Thanks

Hello @prakash_s - thanks for the update. I have been using X and Pro for the best part of 10 years and I have never seen this before, but on this particular website, my version of Chrome will not work. All other websites I manage with X / Pro are working fine with Chrome, but this one just gives me 404s.

I have logged into the website on Opera and it works perfectly. It didn’t even occur to me that this might be the problem.

For your reference, I am running:

MacOS / Chrome / Version 109.0.5414.87

Many thanks for your support and for helping me resolve this.

Hello @littleshock,

Can you please change back again the role of the given WP credentials from Editor to an Administrator so that I can check your site settings, plugins and the theme options?

In the meantime, please check in Cornerstone > Settings > Custom Path if you have used editor because if it is empty, the default Cornerstone builder link would be http://example.com/cornerstone/.

Thank you in advance.

Changed your privileges back for you now. And I have used /editor/ for this site yes, but feel free to change this if you want.

Hi @littleshock,

I am another staff and I found the Cornerstone is working fine now. If you still have any problems with the specific browser, please check with the same browser on any other computer on a different network. If you find that the problem is in your machine only, I suggest you consult with a local developer who can inspect and investigate the issue specifically at your machine.

Thanks

Thank you @tristup - I appreciate your excellent support
