I just updated our site to cornerstone 3.3.8 and now all of our cornerstone pages are broken. In fact, it’s acting as if Cornerstone isn’t installed or isn’t activated (it is). Where the content is supposed to show, we see either blank areas or code such as: [cs_content][cs_element_section _id=”1″ ][cs_element_row _id=”2″ ][cs_element_column _id=”3″ ][cs_element_image _id=”4″ ][/cs_element_column][cs_element_column _id=”5″ ][cs_element_image _id=”6″ ][/cs_element_column][cs_element_column _id=”7″ ][cs_element_image _id=”8″ ][/cs_element_column][cs_element_column _id=”9″ ][cs_element_image _id=”10″ ][/cs_element_column][cs_element_column _id=”11″ ][cs_element_image _id=”12″ ][/cs_element_column][/cs_element_row][/cs_element_section][cs_element_section _id=”14″ ][cs_element_row _id=”15″ ][cs_element_column _id=”16″ ][cs_element_content_area _id=”17″ ][/cs_element_column][/cs_element_row][/cs_element_section][/cs_content]
Hello @Rojac,
Thanks for writing in! Cornerstone is indeed not active in your site. Please go to the plugins section and make sure that it is enabled. If it is outdated, you will need to update it to the latest version.
Please let us know how it goes.
Well it was activated.
I had to revert back to the old version to get the site to display content correctly.
Are you saying I am the only case where Cornerstone 3.3.8 does not properly display content?
Hello @rojac,
Thanks for updating the thread.
I checked your website and can see that you have Cornerstone to version 3.3.6. As the problem is happening on the website with version 3.3.8, I suggest you to copy the website to a staging server and test the Cornerstone update process over there. In case problem with shortcode comes up same can be looked at without affecting the live website. You can take a look at following article for some help:
Thanks.
Hi Prasant,
Thanks for the reply.
We chose X-Theme for a lot of reasons, outstanding support one of them.
Trouble-freeness was the other.
While I appreciate the advice, and your outstanding support, I simply cannot “Stage” websites so problems can be examined. I realize this makes you job basically impossible, and I apologize for that, but as a web designer I have dozens of clients and hosting issues and theme conflicts all vying for my attention every day.
If the theme ain’t workin’ . . . for whatever reason . . . it’s got to go. It’s that simple.
Thank you and all the X-Themers for all the support I’ve received over the past couple years.
Best,
Rojac
Hi Rojac,
Sorry you feel that way. If your Cornerstone is active and those shortcodes are showing, then more likely your Cornerstone had been corrupted during the update process (a little chance but possible).
When you update the Cornerstone to 3.3.8? Did you update the X theme to 6.3.8 as well?
I see that you reverted back to X 6.3.6 and Cornerstone 3.3.6.
Please do this, update the X theme to 6.3.8, after a successful update of X theme, deactivate and delete your Cornerstone 3.3.6. Then navigate to X > Validations, wait for a few seconds and X will reinstall a compatible version of Cornerstone (3.3.8) automatically.
Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.
Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!
