Content in editor not visible

I’ve checked some other topics already, but those didn’t help me solving the problem. I tried to disable all my plugins and updated my Wordpress, cornerstone and theme.

Whenever I want to edit a page the content isn’t visible and i can only see the title and the footer.

I created a new page earlier, then i was able to edit the content, but after a while also that content in the editor disappeared.

This is really frustrating, I need to edit excising pages of our website. Help would be really appreciated.

Hi @timgarstman,

Would you mind if we logged in to check your site? If this is ok you can add WordPress admin credentials in a secure note. Thanks!

Thank you @alexander for your reply. See the previous post for the credentials.

I just updated everything to the latest version released today, but it is still not working when editing an excisting page. The editor works when i create a new page, but only for a while.

Hi Tim,

I log in to your website and check your website to see the issue. I can confirm that when the first load, only the header, and the footer are viewable but if you are going to wait a little longer the layout will appear.

I suggest that you increase your PHP time limit to 300 and PHP memory limit to 512M, please ask your hosting provider to change the settings for you.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Dear @marc_a,

Thank you for checking the site and giving me suggestions. The host increased the PHP limit and Memory limit like you advised, but unfortunately i keep having the same issue.

Waiting longer (around 30 minutes) is still not showing the layout for me.

Is there any other suggestion that you have?

Hey Tim,

I checked your setup and first thing I noticed is that your WordPress update has failed to complete, try updating your WordPress version again:

These performance issues usually happens due to the memory limit issues, please try deactivating all third party plugins and remove any customization if you have and then try editing any page in Cornerstone.

To improve the site’s performance please take a look at this article here https://theme.co/docs/how-to-improve-site-performance

I tried to edit your homepage and it took almost 3,4 seconds to load the page content. I tested on Windows 10 using Chrome. You can try changing the browser and see this helps?

Let us know how this goes!

Hi @nabeel, thank you for the suggestions.

Wordpress is now up to date, also all plugins are updated again. I have also looked at the article and installed the cache plugin. I am now able to edit the homepage, this loads up quickly. Unfortunately, I am still not able to edit other pages. The content still doesn’t load.

I also tried to disable all plugins, clear the cache, but none of that worked.

I am also using Chrome on Windows 10. I also tried Firefox and my Macbook, but that results in the same error.

For me it’s a bit unclear why this has something to do with other plugins or cache. The problems occurred after updating cornerstone and theme X.

Hi Tim,

It might be due to the improper up-gradation of the Cornerstone plugin. I would also suggest you follow the below steps while updating to the latest version of the Cornerstone.

  1. Delete the Cornerstone existing one
  2. After deletion please use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone.

If that does not resolve the issue, I would suggest you troubleshot a few common issues on this.

1.Plugin Conflict to check the compatibility with the updated version of the theme
2.Theme Update related issue
3.CSS/JS Customization
4.CSS/JS Customization
5.Disabling Cache to load the updated version of code.

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If none of the above helps and you are still getting the issue, please copy your live site to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.

hi @tristup,

Thank you for your reply. I have already tried everything you mentioned. I disabled all plugins, updated all themes and plugins, tried it with deleted css (i dont have JS) and disabled/purged the cache.

However, I was not able to delete cornerstone. When i tried to delete it, it said that it was not possible since it was still in use by a main page.

In the first post in this threat I have attached the login details.

I will get in touch with colleagues and the host to check if it is possible to create a staging server.

Hi Tim,

It will be very difficult to troubleshoot the plugins in the live server as it can break anytime, so we prefer the testing in the staging server. I would request you to check and let us know when it will be ready for troubleshooting.

Thanks
