Contact Form 7 and X Theme

Hi,

I want to add a contact form to my website. So I installed the contact form 7 plug-in and have the short code ready to add.

But whenever I try to create a new content area to paste the code in a text element, my cornerstone crashes. Deactivating Contact Form 7 appears to solve the issue but obviously I need it as I need a contact form on my website.

Hope you can help.

Hi there,

Please double check if you have both X and Cornerstone including Contact Form 7 updated to the latest version. If you have everything updated, instead of using the shortcode, try using the Classic Contact Form 7 element in Cornerstsone instead.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

I believe that my WordPress, X Theme, Cornerstone and Contact Form 7 are updated. But my Cornerstone still crashes, at the point where I am trying to select an element.

Hi @rarkmoberts,

Thanks again for the confirmation!
As we don’t have access to your website so can’t confirm what exactly could be the issue.
I would like to suggest you a few troubleshooting to check if that help.

Please check for the following first:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. See https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62 for more details.
  2. Clear all caches including browser cache then deactivate your caching plugins and other optimization plugins.
  3. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.
  4. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  5. Remove custom CSS, Javascript and templates.
  6. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.
  7. Contact your host to increase your allocated memory or do it yourself by adding this code in your wp-config.php
    define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' ); define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );
In case the issue persists, would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? Please provide following information:
    Set it as Secure Note
  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password
  • FTP credentials
    All the best!

Hello Mark,

Thanks for updating the thread.

I checked the website and can see that Contact Form 7 plugin has been removed. Can you please install the plugin again and update over here so we can take a closer look at the setup?

Thanks.

I’ve re-installed the Contact Form 7 plugin. My site/Cornerstone still crashes whenever I try to edit anything :frowning:

Hi Mark,

It’s not due to contact form or the builder, the issue was the permalink. I went ahead in Admin > Settings > Permalinks and removed the /index.php from your existing permalinks. Please check your contact page now

I added Contact Form as element and as a shortcode to demonstrate this.

Thanks!
