Conflict between Jetpack cookiebanner and Xtheme

Hi there,

For a while now I’ve had an issue with my website where I have a Jetpack cookie banner installed. I’m using the banner on over 20 sites, however on this one website the banner does not close once you click on the close and agree button (we named it “akkoord”), Instead, it just reloads the page with the banner still there.

I have been doing some troubleshooting and with all plugins disabled, the issue remains, while when I switch to one of the standard wordpress themes, the banner finally dissapears.

I will provide you with the link to the site in a secure note.

I don’t know if this is something you can help with, but I thought I’d atleast ask. A ticket has also been created on the support forum for Jetpack.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Karianne at Buro Vink,

Thanks for writing in. I have checked your homepage and I am seeing a JS error. It is displaying in the JS console with the following message:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'classList' of null
    at ../wp-content/plugins/jetpack/_inc/build/widgets/eu-cookie-law/eu-cookie-law.min.js?ver=20180522:2
    at ../wp-content/plugins/jetpack/_inc/build/widgets/eu-cookie-law/eu-cookie-law.min.js?ver=20180522:2

You may need to contact the creators of the Jetpack plugin and let them know about this error.

Kindly let us know how it goes.

Thank you for getting back to me!

I’ve contacted Jetpack support. When I receive it, I will post their reply to this thread!

You’re welcome, Karianne.

Hi there,

I have contacted Jetpack support and this is their reply:

Hm, ok, since we don’t own a copy of that theme, it’s a bit difficult to isolate this, especially with it not happening on any other theme.

Do they have any ideas as to what might be causing the conflict?

You can find the whole thread here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/cookie-banner-wont-go-away/

Is there anything you can see or do with this issue?

Thanks a million!

-Karianne

Hey There,

As outlined from my colleague since it’s a non supported 3rd party plugin the plugin author will be able to help you out with this as they control the plugin code. If they need a copy of the theme or any help they can reach out to us at any time. All the best!
